yeah, but its not like Adventure Time is something so revolutionary to animation itself. and, most people seem to just emulate it. honestly that formula of "slice of life touchy feely drama with a backdrop of surrealism, potsmoker pretensions" has gotten overused by people who dont know how to pull it off, for the most part.

As much as a i hate AT, even i can admit it has a unique kind of style that helped it stand out from other shows when it premiered. Now the problem with that is that it's own brand of quirkiness that it created gets very tiring after a while. Not to mention it's attempt at lore and drama in later seasons is incredibly hamfisted and disingenuous. So when other shows take after AT and try to copy it's style, it results in some really lackluster shows and comics. They all wanna be like AT with none of the uniqueness that AT had at the the time of it's heyday.

but then again that's the opinion of a namefag so don't take it too seriously.

In the grand scheme of the industry, this is a good thing, allows many different people from different backgrounds into the process rather than just art school grads. It'll only get more open as the years go by

Does no one else find it a little disappointing that indie comics "made it", but it wasnt the cool looking cross hatched illustrative stuff from the 70's like Crumb or Greg Irons that looked like it had genuine blood and guts effort put into it, but rather these post ironic minimalist doodles that anyone with any aesthetic sense could churn out daily?

I understand why, these kind of designs just translate better than more Illustrative detailed styles, but... fuck, man, it feels like a Monkey Paw wish.
