>>79370031>It's retarded.Audiences secretly want the villain to be relatable.
The reason why zombie games are popular is due to hypocrisy. People who want to kill other people in petty revenge fantasies but want to stand on a higher moral ground. The same applies to horror movies.
Friday the 13th and other cult horror movies were popular because the killer was a relatable person and people cheered for him instead(See Ebert and Siskel reviews on Friday the 13th).
The formula has a killer who goes after shit heads, and the only character that dindu nuffin gets away, some variants kill the innocent anyways because fuck them, it's Freddy Time.
If the script goes off too far, the character is ruined for them, because they are hypocrites.
Some people liked Ledger Joker because it was relatable to them for some reason, if you make the joker an nonredeemable rapist pedophile crack addict who abducts and molest young girls, turning the into "Harleys" it is spoiled to them, because they cannot longer support the character...out loud.
Then again some people want the Batman TAS joker, so there is that, although TAS joke did smack Harley around.
