Otherwise, it's really somewhat subtle. I've some gay friends and it's not something that's constantly obvious at all. One of them likes really campy dance music, that's it, otherwise the only indication is that his significant other is a dude, which only comes up if he's specifically asked about his holiday plans (traveling with the boyfriend) or if it's an event where you're supposed to show up with the gf/bf.
The other one I was actually interested in romantically for the first 30 mins of me knowing him before his boyfriend showed up and he greeted him as "darling". It was this "ooohhhh" moment. Neither of them acts in the "gay" way you always see at the media.
So how you'd handle it would depend on how your character is, are they a private, mind your own business type person?
I mean, they can have this subtle gay vibe to them, but that's extremely hard to write in a way that's not over the top. Better to just hint and leave it at that
