>>79333219Because he's not only too young, he's nothing like the Jay Garrick from the comics. This looked like shitty writing, until they introduce a character that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Jay in the comics as Jay's supposed 'double': Hunter Zolomon.
Hunter doesn't even use super speed. He uses time manipulation, which looks like super speed, but isn't and allows him to affect time in his close proximity, which is why Barry always catches up to him and then suddenly is slower, and why he was able to freeze the lightning bolt.
So you have a Jay who acts absolutely nothing like Jay, who supposedly survived an encounter with a serial killer and only does the bare minimum in terms of 'help' to stick around the Flash team and keep an eye on things. Then you have his genetic double being named Hunter Zolomon, who is a time manipulator that eats speedforce in the comics. Then you have both characters jealously guarding anything substantial about them at all. Does Jay ever really say anything about himself beyond things that might be general knowledge? Is Jay actually ever around when he's really needed? How did Zoom know about the ambush anyway? Who told him? Wasn't it Jay who assured team Flash they could talk to doctor light, which created the situation in the first place?
Comic Jay isn't manipulative. Comic Jay is very direct. CW Jay toys with emotions. He plays ball with Caitlin and keeps her close, but not close enough that she actually knows jack all about him. He keeps emphasising the fear of Zoom, which comic Jay would never do. Comic Jay would be on the frontlines to fuck up Zoom's shit.
So yeah, Hunter being Jay's double was the last straw for me that makes it dead certain this Jay is NOT Jay Garrick. He's Hunter, always has been.
