Well, for starters he's not in a mocap suit so he's probably not directly doing mocap - they're probably choreographing. Secondly, he is also Neptune's actor, so he could easily be doing some work on Neptune that isn't necessarily directly fighting related.

RvB 13 had an actual stunt coordinator and some stuntmen to do mocap for the fight scenes, or at least a choreography guy. But I'd say there's probably less mocap this season and more regular animation since there's a lot of high speed wuxia or animesque action.

Well every single individual blow that is thrown is correct to a degree just with a lot of failures in proper stance, extension, and the circumstances in which it is supposed to be thrown.

Yang is supposed to be a kick boxer. From memory I think her stance is a bit more bladed than it should be and her hands are definitively always too low but her chin is about as high as can be expected.

Can't for the life of me remember Mercury. That fight was kind of meh in the beginning.

Blake is aloof and methodical, she'd want to belive Yang but at the same time she's also want to trust what she saw with her own two eyes (or at least, this is the direction it logically should go with these characters). It will probably turn into further development about learning to trust other people or some shit.

Qrow is a drunken asshole who plays things close to the chest, it's hard to tell what he exactly know and believes, but it's fair to point out that the Scarecrow had no brain.

Ruby doesn't say anything - but I'd presume she'd believe Yang enough to look into it, if only because Yang's her sister - fuck logic. Weiss also doesn't say anything, and she's been growing a lot to be supportive of her team regardless of her own self-interest. She might be the one to say "it doesn't matter what I think, Yang's on our team".

Plus, we keep showing Weiss v Emerald, and boy howdy, wouldn't it be interesting if summoned constructs have no minds to hack?

Okay, so I don't respond on these threads and opt to lurking since, I'm only semi-invested in the series. Regardless, I will speak my mind some of the shit I've seen in this preview versus information/lore on the world that we already have.

I think this next episode, is gonna lay down the ground work for humanizing Yang's dilemma and the Pyrrha/Juane relationship. Barring potential holes from the mediocre writing/VA work, and my bias towards certain characters, here's my take.

>Yang's Dilemma
So, for starters, Yang next to Wiess are by far my favorite girls of team RWBY because of their character dynamics. Biases aside, over all of the series, we have only gotten serious backstory and context for two of them: Blake and Wiess. Blake's story in short is how she was a child rebel/soldier that blindly joined a cause she was told was right and just. After learning about the cause's true nature, she left it to seek justice in her way, down a path of retribution for her. I'm skipping a lot of details, but her backstory is fairly solidified. Wiess' story is how she's trying to live up to this impossible standard that her sister and possible her father has represented to her. She has an inherited and potentially OP ability that she can't unlock yet because of some internal strife or rite of passage she as a character/person has not overcome yet. There's also the fact that she has racist outlook towards the Faunus, but that's a whole other facet to her backstory.

As much as it could just be cheap drama 101, I think you've raised some points about Blake which really could justify her reaction shown in the preview.

She used to be on a side which she thought was good and just from a young age, and she later learned was wrong or became wrong, and so she turned away. She's been on the wrong side of this sort of situation before where she put her faith in people she thought were good but they turned out bad. Her development is as much about her ability to trust in others (be it with her identity as a Faunus or an ex-terrorist) as it is about her finding her own path.

So HOPEFULLY we can turn this situation into real development for all the characters, not just the highlighted one, and it's not just the writers drinking our tears, because they ran out of their own.

So we have a solid idea of both Weiss and Blake's character dynamics, their personal drives, and what they're looking for in life. What do we know about Yang? Putting it bluntly, we know that she's suppose to be the strong, older sister of the group with, fairly obvious mommy issues. Pushing away everything else backstory related, up until now Yang has been shown to us as the badass spitfire that has beaten almost every opponent she has run into, save for Neo. In addition, every she's met seem to either like her or at least tolerate her character archetype, and has never done anything to turn people against her. Now, Yang is in an alien situation where the world has seen her as a monster for the sake of the plot, and essentially turned her strongest character dynamic of social compatibility against her. Her friends don't believe her/possible dislike her now, the world apparently fucking hates her now because of her perceived actions, and even her own family has been put at a loss for how to aptly handle the situation. Yang now, has to prove to the world that what they saw is not who she really is, before the doubts in her solidify into something far worse.

Putting bias into the picture, I'm happy and scared that this is happening. Yang, is the most interesting character to me even though she lacks a lot of backstory up until now. I felt a tinge of pain/sadness seeing her crying and her friends pretty much doubting her. This is going to be her redemption arc as a character, and its one of the more difficult characterizations to do properly. With that in mind, I really hope Miles and Kerry know what they're getting themselves into, and don't fuck this up, since you can fuck up this kind of characterization in some many ways.

tl;dr - My theory is the second half of Season 3 will largely be the redemption and humanizing of Yang as a character. Hope Kerry, and Miles don't fuck it up.

I honestly don't see the tension in whether or not Pyrrha accepts Amber's soul\aura. Cinder took part of the soul and seems to have gotten away for the most part the same as she was before. If Pyrrha lives after the transfer, she won't be any different as she is now, and if her personality does change, unless it does a complete 180, then we won't notice it.

I probably should reiterate that I was glossing over a lot of details behind her 'racism' towards the Faunus. As a fan for Wiess, I often do jump to defend that her strong bias against the Faunus is the result of her having to see a lot of her family and close friends get killed just because of the name and family crest she bears. She got a very shit hand played to her in life, and that's perhaps one her strongest dynamics with her character in that she appears conscious of her distaste towards the Faunus, and is trying to redeem herself of that distaste due to her growing friendship with Blake.

Well, RT is pretty big. I know FH at least checks on some 4chan shit for news and stuff but usually the reputation of /b/ and nature of YT comments and shit would keep most serious creators off the site. Wouldn't be surprised if some people in the company lurk on their own time but probably not major players.

On the other hand, I think places like RWBYg's stark ambivalence is healthier than bullshit you get like on tumblr.

Cinder stole part of the mantle of power - it doesn't seem like she took any of Amber's Aura directly. In fact, Amber's aura was probably depleted since she straight up took an arrow to the spine.

But the Ironwood process is going to literally siphon off Amber's Aura, power and all, and stick it in Pyrrha. So they don't know if there will be personality interference or anything like that.

For starters, the Jaune/Pyrrha pairing is the ONLY pairing that I have shipped in RWBY like there is no tomorrow. As such, Pyrrha big decision is another development that I'm anxious to see played out. Putting away biases, I feel that looking at the preview they may be pushing this dilemma to rival the conflict that Yang is facing. Not a big problem with story, but the Kerry/Miles duo has not shown the ability to balance multiple story elements too great. You didn't ask to hear me whine about the RT guys though so on with my opinion on the preview.

I think that this is gonna be next and possibly final stepping stone in really linking Jaune and Pyrrha together. We already know quite a bit about both these characters dynamics and their drives. Jaune is the Plain-tom character that wants to hero so, so very much, and has been thrusted into the situation where he can finally prove himself. Pyrrha is the strong and caring veteran that clearly has a crush on Jaune, to the extent that she is letting him take the spotlight as leader, even though she would excel in the position, as stated by Qrow. For the sake of plot though, now Pyrrha is gonna be forced into an ultimatum where she has to choose between staying with her team and more importantly to her Jaune; or giving it all up to help preserve the balance of power in the world. Pretty tough decision, and I think will show us Pyrrha's very human fears and vulnerabilities for the first time. Again we will have a character that has been thrusted into a situation they don't know how to respond to properly. It's my hopes that this will be the trigger to finally bring Pyrrha, Jaune, and team JNPR together as a team.

Again, I'm glossing over a lot of details I'd love to cover here, but 2000 character limit, amirite 4chan?

1. It would probably the biggest plot setpiece of the 3rd Season next to either Yang's redemption, Wiess using her semblance for the first time, or us seeing Qrow/Taiyang in an actual fight.
2. Miles and Kerry, plus the VAs will have to act the shit the out of that, so it does not feel abrupt, forced, or cliche in anyway.
3. This would actually make another team matter just as much, or more than Team RWBY in terms of story elements, and characters.

If this plot point is done well I think would largely forgive a lot of mediocrity we've seen with RWBY's story thus far. I should probably state that I don't equate mediocrity to being a shit series.

His idea of a deterrent to three people was to bring a fleet, meaning that he sees them as a big enough threat.
His idea of 'saving' a Maiden is basically to kill her and stuff her soul into a scared little kid.
Hell he seems to think that war is theinevitable conclusion to what's happening; he even tries to call Ozpin out for the kids not being ready for a real fight.

He isn't so mutch of an Antihero-achetype as he is a massive ragins asshole.

The evidence is Penny. The closest I can see Ironwood coming to being a bad guy is that he doesn't believe in the idea of good hearted people being in control of the power and wants it under the thumb of the Military. He didn't just pull soul transferring tech from his ass. They've been working on it for a while, and transferring the maidens power into a more controllable, stronger machine makes sense.

An actual hunter, probably. The same as with professional fighters, things are supposed to be ended with "necessary force" and nothing more. I would assume that to be the case for licensed aura death machines that are hunters.
