Why is everyone so obsessed with Mara Jade? I only know her from the Thrawn trilogy and although I generally liked her personality, I thought her backstory made her a huge Mary Sue.

I loved Action Fleet so much
It's a shame it died after Hasbro bought Galoob and then tried to keep Action Fleet going but completely failed to understand the appeal and then cancelled it because "if our bad attempt at it isn't selling it must be the concept that doesn't work!"

That was Vader's position and I perceived that as an unnecessary retcon to give her a reason to despise Luke while also establishing her as some kind of a special snowflake. Basically they sold them as models. They'd come with stands but no figures, which defeated the purpose. Some of the ones Hasbro produced still had opening cockpits but it was bizarre that they kept the feature but never included any pilots or soldiers along with them.

They also made a Solar Sailer that had zero interactivity options and it sold horribly. Hasbro didn't get that not including any figures defeated the concept and rather than learn from their mistake, they decided that people just don't want Action Fleet and axed the line.

Hasbro makes this mistake very often.

You can at least say that Fighter Pods finished with a pretty expansive range of characters. Not my thing but they were sort of cute and if you decided to collect them you could probably build a decent collection.

Also those admittedly nifty X-Struct kits or whatever they were called. They had figures and you built ramshod looking vehicles out of a shared pool of parts. I think I saw those in a store one time.

Those erector-like things got cancelled. You probably saw Mash-Ups and thought that was it, since they're basically the same concept just with figures instead of ships.

Just finished Rebels season 1, thought it was great. I wasn't sure about space Aladdin at first but he's grown on me. Chopper is a little shit, I love him. Vader and Ahsoka appearing in the last episode was awesome. What can I expect from season 2? No spoilers please.

season 2 has been split so far.

the visual quality has improved immensely, but the story has been really inconsistent.

Some episodes are amazing, while others are downright terrible and cliche. The biggest problem is how self contained every episode is.

The OT feel of some of it, especially the empire stuff.
The camaraderie of the crew.
Chopper and Zeb.
Kanan's relationship with Aladdin and his own doubts as a teacher.
Space fights looked good.
Tarkin.
I liked how lightsaber a weren't overly used.

Things I didn't like:
Not a huge amount of backstory for the
Main characters.
Series felt really short (15 eps?)
Kallus looked like he might be a threat at first but turned out to be a jobber.
Not a lot of backstory for the Inquisitor.
I wanted to see more Jedi training and More of Aladdin learning about the force.

So I finally watched the episodes of TCW where Palpatine gets control of the banks since I skipped them the first time I watched the show. After this I just need to read Dark Disciple and I'll have watched/read everything from the Clone Wars era. I like how when you look at where those episodes take place they're around the end of the war so you could tell the Confederates were running out of money in the months afterwards until they went full 'fuck it' mode and attacked Coruscant in Episode 3. I'm not sure if that's what their intentions are but either way that's pretty cool.

It also got me thinking. I know in the EU the reason why everything was shit technology wise during the Imperial era was because everyone was poor, but I think they're doing something similar with the new canon. For example what the banking clan was doing (taking all the money and giving it to a select few) might have been foreshadowing to Palpatine taking tons of money for himself. Then in the Lando comics we know he did take an interest in Sith artifacts that were probably expensive as fuck so it's likely that he used tons of money from the banks for himself, and tons of it for the Death Stars. It could also be the reason why they had to enslave races too since they didn't have the money to pay workers. Also I imagine the public was fine with this because they felt as if they didn't need an amazing army now that the Clone Wars were over and simply didn't care that technology wasn't as great as it used to be. However the Rebellion getting as huge as it did probably ended up leading more and more people to be concerned over the Empire not having enough money for it's forces leading them (specifically politicians and companies who don't think with freedom or their hearts in mind) to eventually join the Rebellion (specifically during Episode 4 where they not only wasted tons of Imperial money, but arguably officially kickstarted the Galactic Civil War).

I don't see the difference. How is being able to use the Force different than being naturally stronger than somebody else?
It's not that unlikely that some alien species just don't have the prerequisites to be force sensitive or use the force, like a penguin is unable to fly. Doesn't invalidate his existence though. Penguins can do other cool stuff.

Even if not in a controlled, disciplined way, wouldn't that imply Han is "using the Force"? He's in tune with who he is, and with his surroundings. He's always on his feet. Isn't that part of what Yoda explains to be the Force? Sure, he lacks the discipline of mind, to have greater control over the force, and anything he has is very small and instinctual, but it's there.

That's kind of how I see Yoda's explanation. It takes a Jedi to master the Force, but everyone has it, and uses it to some degree, because they wouldn't even be alive otherwise.

Not really, no.
He gives a speech saying we are living in an animistic world and there is more to it that you can see with your bare eyes or something along those lines.
If you think of the Force, like it is explained as 'life force' it is inherently inside of every living thing 'permeated' by it as he put it. Doesn't mean everybody has the power to influence their life force.

Kind of like how some monks are able to channel their chi. That stuff is empirically measurable. But nobody know what the hell is actually going on.

Also there's a quite huge difference between being able to peek behind realities curtain enough to be able to lift a x-wing from a swamp and having what looks like sheer dumb luck from time to time.

She was his Hand amongst many basically one of many force users he sent to do wet work that Vader would consider too demeaning. Essentially a corps of low tier mauls and ventresses. So she was neither special nor unique. Just the only one of a few who didn't go crazy or sith or insane.

Well the original name for the Force was the Will. It's will personified, the spiritual or mental aspect, and when combined with the physical aspect of everything being part of the same whole, evolved into the general idea of the Force. I think that in his youth George assumed everyone could use the Force because he believed that achieving greatness is only a matter of learning, and that anyone can rise to the occasion. But as he got older I think he probably decided that, no, when you step back and look at life in literary terms only some people ever exert the will to do great things, and those people generally don't live ordinary lives. So when you bring destiny into the equation it doesn't matter whether everyone can if not everyone does, either you do or you don't. Therefore you might as well say that anyone who can use the Force was destined too, and was thus born with the innate ability to do so. The choice now comes from how an individual chooses the path to their destiny rather than whether or not they choose to rise to the occasion, and thus in a way doesn't invalidate characters like Han Solo or Tarkin that are "heroic" to a point without being Force-sensitive. This would also appear to be why Force-sensitives are generally central to galactic affairs.

So George probably decided that since the Force is also a metaphor for life and existence and interconnectedness and all that daoism stuff that everyone has a bit of the Force, which is measured by midichlorians. But only people born with high amounts of midichlorians are able to use the Force (or exert the Will) to do great things, hence why Force users are generally central to galactic affairs.

It's not hard to see his line of thinking, though there is still an argument to be made for whether it diminishes some of the mystique. Still this is part of the reason I don't hate the prequels. Say what you will about them as films but from a storytelling perspective they provide a lot to chew on.

I'm not being an idiot. It's a damn fact that Canon in 1 year has built a convincingly connected world with no continuity problems, whereas the EU failed massively in that.

Just because the EU had some connections and references to other EU works, doesn't prove me or other anons wrong. The LSG has been constructing canon in a much more consistent way. Denying this is absurd.

Personally loved "Thrawn's Revenge" because of how much it powered up certain ships like the ISD. They should have kept bombers being able to hit through shields though.

Also gone through Republic and War and playing as the Republic can be such a pain. So many droids (especially in Space).

If Boba leaves the Sarlacc, I'd rather they do something more interesting with him besides "the best bounty hunter in the galaxy is back for more action!" which is what the EU did. He came back but nothing really changes, he was still the same old Boba Fett and his trip to the Sarlacc barely changed anything. I'd rather they only bring him back if they have a really good idea for a story that could only be told post-Sarlacc. If it's just Boba Fett being a badass bounty hunter you could easily tell a story like that pre-Sarlacc.

How is Jango better? His "character" is a dodgy, teamkilling asshole who lies through his scenes and dies in the arena like a fool. All we have is the cunning he displayed in the Geonosis ring. Boba was pure pottery, a loser except for hiding in the garbage to track the Falcon. In the end, it all comes down to which armor design you prefer.

Which wasn't even consistent. Sometimes Dengar was his friend, sometimes he was still on the usual "bounty hunters don't have friends" thing. Whenever he needed a sidekick they'd usually default to Dengar but by and large he was back to being the same loner he was before. It wasn't even until the later eras that he started getting more involved with the Mandalorians, which was the only significant change to his character in the post-ROTJ EU.

Thrawn is not a very compelling villain even in the EU. There was nothing personal at stake with the heroes. He just had a lame gimmick of being able to make develop counter strategies based on artwork. And based on his characterization... he really wasn't even fighting for anything.

Both songs are shit to be honest, I feel like the replacement song in Jabba's Palace is unreasonably hated. At least any more so than the original should be. Lapti Nek wasn't any more fitting for Jabba's Palace than Jedi Rocks.

As for the CGI, I don't care. The Original Sy Snootles puppet was fugly, so the CGI was an improvement there. As for the rockstar cockroach, he was crappy, but at the same time, they filmed more scenes with Oola, which I loved.

So yeah, I don't care about that change. For every "bad" change, there was something I liked, and the Victory Celebration music at the end makes it 110% worth it

100% true. They were both pretty average in their first movies (Hayden arguably below average in some scenes, he came across too whiny, but that may have been an intentional choice on Lucas's part)

But they both stepped it up. Hamill's performances (especially in RotJ) were great, and Hayden was very good in RotS too.

I disagree here though. Hayden is LEAGUES better in III, and the writing was much better too. In AotC there was dozens of cringeworthy lines. In RotS, his lines were solid. Sometimes silly, but no sillier than some of the dialogue in the OT. The only really cringey lines in RotS (at least in my opinion) were from Padme.

Plus all of those scenes (and there was quite a lot of them) where Anakin doesn't say anything, Hayden really is quite chilling.

And when he is working alongside Ewan and Ian, he also shines. (They're better actors for sure, I feel like he raised his game enough for his character to have enough presence on screen with them, something that was really weak in AotC. Notice how in AotC, people only cared about Obi-Wan's side of the events? I believe it was partly because Anakin just didn't have any presence. He was just an awkward pretty boy. During the Coruscant chase, can you really say you gave a shit about Anakin? I personally kept wanting it to cut back to Obi-Wan.)

Boyega is obviously very talented and I think it helps that he really loves Star Wars. You can feel how passionate both Boyega and Ridley are because of that.
But the actor I'm most excited to see is Adam Driver. I already have a very good feeling about his performance as insane dark side fanatic.

And this is the Timeline. As you can see, as requested, I've bullet pointed any significant events from each Canon material, and added where each Short Story takes place. (Also added the source for each Short Story for convenience)

Now this wasn't an easy task. I did it all myself, so it's pretty obvious that I am probably missing quite a few significant events that I could add. If you wanna' help me out and tell me stuff I have missed, go ahead. I am sure I've missed out important stuff from TCW.

I also haven't finished "Moving Target", "Twilight Company", or the TCW Story Reels yet, so forgive me for them not having any real information there.

Feedback is appreciated. This is the first PROPER version of this timeline, so it's very basic, but perhaps in time this can grow into something very useful. Anons told me they wanted an image like this for reference to look back on important plot points, particularly from the books and comics.

I have also updated the OP link to contain both of the new images.

There's 100% good reason, to help his people. That's the whole reason he was in the war to begin with. If he feels he has to stay on his homeworld to accomplish that he would, war is over and I think we all know in the end his people got screwed over by the Empire for sure, he's probably wary of ever getting involved in another.

Moving Target:
-The Alliance learns of the construction of the second Death Star. Leia designs and carries out Operation Yellow Moon, where she and a select group of Rebels traverse the galaxy pretending to be recruiting, to distract the Empire while the Rebel fleet secretly masses for attack.

TWILIGHT COMPANY:
-Following the destruction of the Death Star, Rebel High Command orders the invasion of the Mid-Rim from the Outer Rim, with the vanguard group Twilight Company leading the way in conquering planets. After almost a year, the Rebel Fleet becomes overstretched and the Rebels are forced into a defensive position before falling into retreat as the Empire goes on the offensive. Twilight Company is ordered to cover for retreating Rebels during the Mid-Rim Retreat.
-Governor Everi Chalis, the protege of Count Vidian, turns herself in to the Rebels after the Battle of Haidoral Prime when she determines that the Empire will try to kill her for her failure.
-Prelate Verge of the Imperial Ruling Council is assigned to track down Chalis and chooses Captain Tabor Seitaron to act as his aid.
-Chalis is taken to Hoth to meet with Rebel High Command and provides them with information on Imperial logistics and strategies but is separated from them and stuck with Twilight Company after the disastrous Rebel defeat.
-Chalis and Hazram Namir, who takes control of Twilight Company after Captain Evon's death at Hoth, form a plan - Operation Ringbreaker - to disrupt the Imperial supply chain by attacking the Kuat drive yards. Twilight Company strikes planet after planet to force Kuat to send out men and supplies for repairs to soften it up but find themselves stuck on Sullust when Verge and Seitaron trap them in a mining facility.
-Twilight Company miraculously turns the tide of battle while Chalis escapes to distant space and the capital of Sullust falls to the Rebellion.

And by weakest during the Prequels, I think that was only their foresight sensing abilities. Everything else however, was the Jedi at the top of their game. We'll probably never see Jedi as strong as they were during TCW again. Or at least, definitely not in TFA. Perhaps in the later movies if it turns out Luke didn't give up training more Jedi..

Hell, the Knights of Ren are probably made up of recruits who were found to be force sensitive.

Clone Wars already has Yoda saying anyone can use the Force if they try, it's just an effort thing.

People that aren't strong in it just have a really hard time with it. It's like being someone that's had a disability from birth trying to become an Olympian, you are going to have a lot harder time at it than everyone else.

It probably also breeds frustration and aggression if you bring ordinary people to train, can you imagine struggling to do something for years that others achieved in mere months or weeks?

The idea that you can be altered by stuff to become more Force sensitive makes tons of sense, the whole thing is treated with a magic sensibility. People growing up around really strong focuses will be effected by it, it simply makes sense. This is the whole reason people don't live at the Sith places, it's not good for your health.

Yoda was supposed to duel the Emperor from day 1 alongside resurrected Kenobi and Luke. Luke was supposed to face the Emperor and then resurrect Kenobi and Yoda with the Force so they could all battle against him and Vader.

The idea was to have Yoda's days of fighting be over though, it's clear Yoda always fought in the past though as we know from ESB. Not to mention we knew the Jedi were knights before he even entered the stage.

I won't say midichlorians weren't clunkily introduced but I do think it really was Lucas trying to make some kind of sense out of these elements while retaining the mythical sense of destiny and fate and magic.

I think "The Force awakens" partly refers to Finn, who uses the force for the first time during the Jakku village massacre. Yoda implied in TESB that the force is everwhere and in everyone and I'm pretty sure Abrams will go with the OT interpretation.

And you know what? I would like that. It's really refreshing to see a force sensitive main character who isn't related to the Skywalker's for once.

Not sure how I feel about this show yet.

So far season 2 just feels like they admit CW was a better show so here have Rex and Hondo, please watch us.

I just wish they did similar shit like they did in CW, IMO the episodes that followed the Clones themselves were the standouts. I understand that the Rebels don't have the strength to deploy an army or anything yet but just anything to take the focus off the ghost and their mob. I just feel that I'd be more interested in watching a squad of generic guys rather than the obviously invincible main cast for a change.

How the fuck is this guy a Commander? Where did he get his fleet?
Phoenix Squadron
Apart from dying in order to make the main cast look cool are they actually important? Who are they?
Wolfe and Gregor just straight up disappeared after getting rescued with Rex. What the hell are they doing? Do we assume they just do some random stuff off screen?

I guess these are probably covered in a comic somewhere?

Wolffe and Gregor are still on that planet they were on before, now with a new AT-AT home (Rebels recon confirmed)

Plus, Dhara, Zare's sister was force-sensitive so if they go down that route it would be explained. The only bad thing is that it would suggest a bad ending for Zare and his family in that the next generation ends up being indoctrinated by the same forces that almost destroyed their family.

Also, the whole indoctrination thing was first bought up in Servants of the Empire, and that could be a thematic clue.

That's not what happens. Only the Force aware operate on a different level of interaction, everyone else is just following lines to a script. Jedi and Sith improvise but still tell the story that was intended to begin with.

Anyone else get the feeling that all the main characters will have the force in the ST? Rey because of that card calling her a Jedi and spoilers (won't say them since I know most people are trying to stay away from spoilers here), Poe because of the force tree, Finn because he probably has lightsaber training. Then we know Maz Kanata has the force too. I get the feeling that the 'Force Awakens' means that after the force being regulated to only 20 or so people for so long after Order 66 the force goes 'fuck it' and starts giving nearly everyone the force or something. I could see this trilogy showing all the main characters helping more and more people with the force along with the Knights of Ren coming in every movie and showing the villains how to use the force until there are hundreds of force users on each side ending in a huge Jedi vs Sith war.

I think it's kind of due solely because we never got to see Leia become a Jedi and the EU authors were assholes and made her abandon her Jedi training because they didn't care that Luke said she would do it in RotJ

Later on in the EU it was honestly as if Leia had NEVER been trained by Luke or ever had a lightsaber, she was seriously written completely like she was in the OT and entire scenes would go down and you'd wonder why Leia wasn't doing shit at all about anything...it was sad because those EU authors probably didn't know she was ever a Jedi

/tv/ got flooded by /pol/ when the board was removed years ago, they never really recovered after that. Also, they love playing the retard and follow the leader all the time. If some actually tried to talk critically about a move the thread would be trolled into oblivion or just ignored.

Anyway, I'm telling you there is no evidence that ANYONE can use the Force. No, Yodas speech to the clones does not prove that. Talzin sucking the force energy out of others to power herself up does not prove that. And a conversation from 30 years ago between Lucas and Kasdan doesn't either considering that Star Wars went through considerable changes.

I sort of liked his episode in TCW. He'd probably the most assholish of all the Separatist leaders, including Gunray. Heck, even Dooku gets a small moment of remorse when he's ordered to kill Ventress. Tambor is just 100% douchebag, and it made for a fun little antagonist on Ryloth.

Sorry, I should've also said "everyman character". The Jedi in the prequels and Leia are high privileged and are basically space aristocrats. Finn is just a stormtrooper, pretty much the lowest of the low in the Star Wars universe. It would really be amazing to see a random stormtrooper become a Jedi master over time.

And Lucas probably couldn't envision the puppet fighting something on screen believably, which is why he jumped at CG Yoda.

Yoda was always a warrior, that's just the truth of ESB. Just because he's not screaming BLOOD FOR BLOOD BEHEAD THEM ALL AYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAAY doesn't mean he didn't fight people.
