>>77432810In "a" show, tokenism is just sprinkling a handful of minorities into the cast in order to state a message, inside of the work or out of it, with little else to do. AT's not a factor, because the posts I responded to turned it into a general issue when they went all "woe is me" over a bunch of racist plebs.
And this is an anonymous image board. There is no actual side for you to feel better than - just a bunch of otherwise detached individuals shitposting in the same general directions. I don't doubt that people see other people post "why doesn't race matter" and "why should race matter" in the same thread, but I highly doubt that people regularly see someone post those two ideas back to back, in the same post, in the same line.
Now, as far as AT is concerned, they don't engage in tokenism. They're too busy trying to juggle being insightful and anxious at the same time. Marcy's mom being black, and Marcy looking like any other vampire when she gets turned, and treating it as a dull surprise, is just part of the "affably progressive" shtick that a lot of 20-somethings are into nowadays. It's basically like how some members on the staff will coat a discussion about transcendental existence, with very specific references for psychedelic subculture, with whateves talk. They put in the effort to know stuff, and then work double-time to make it seem effortless on their part, lest they be called snobs.
