I'm the only person alive that liked Iron-Man 2 I guess.
It felt new as far as stories go. Tony was fighting himself more than Ivan, which was nice. It was a fresh take on Ivan, probably not the best take. But it was an attempt at something fresh.
Iron-Man 3: How Tony Got His Groove Back was terrible, and I will always, always, tell someone to stab themselves in the asshole with shards of glass, before spending money on that movie. Always.
That being said, the more I watch Avengers, the more it seems less original. Yes, live action super hero team up, is pretty new. Smallville took a crack at it, but other than that on screen, multiple member team-ups were new for cinema. But they kind of.. I dunno, watered it down with the Chitauri. Too vague of a villain.
Avengers 2 was.. Flat. Just a multimillion dollar yawn fest. The jokes became too frequent, there was no sense of dread. The outcome was strange, and Vision wasn't even really that well explained. He just kinda.. Is now.. And where that leaves Jarvis is anyone's guess..
I love both Captain America movies. I'm a sucker for American history, and WWII is a great story-telling launch pad. The man out of time schtick was handled very well given that Steve had tried to modernize himself. Failed. But tried. Falcon felt good, his wings were a bit rushed, but it worked out.
All the Thor movies have been terrible. The only reason I watch is for Kat Dennings (Darcy) to half-ass the movie. Why? Because I feel like that's what I would do having read the script.
And.. Well.. tits.
Black Widdow, Hulk, and Jeremy Renner pretending to be a child's version of Hawkguy (Yes, it's Hawkeye, but.. Whatever.) make me sad. Shield itself feels like it's a snake eating itself.
So.. yeah..
Marvel Cinematic Universe: Try Harder 4/10.
Guardians of the Galaxy as a stand-alone film, all by itself, just rip it out of the MCU. Excellent film. Excellent acting. Excellent visual direction. Excellent casting. Excellent plot.
