Man, this remind me how much better TCW looked than Rebels.
Rebels has better textures but the lighting and general look was so much better.

Rebels lacks the detail clone wars did. Everything looks so clean. Which is funny considering everything should look grungy and grey in this era. But I feel the main cast are like a packet of skittles. Hopefully they'll do some costume redesigns in season 3 like tcw did as it matured.

this references the bombing of Kuat that Ackbar mentioned in the main Star Wars comic when Leia is trying to convince High Command to carry out more "spectacle"

Genndy Wars was relegated to Legends not because Disney thinks it's bad, but because it doesn't fit with the other stuff that's canon, either due to the way it portrays the abilities of various characters or just due to its general action style.

If you were ever under the impression that canonicity was ever tied to the quality of a work, under the old regime OR the new, throw that impression away RIGHT NOW. Some of the best stuff of the old days was non-canon short stories from Star Wars Tales. They weren't non-canon because they were bad stories. They were non-canon because they didn't fit into the continuity.

And some of the worst stuff of the old days was canon, like the Star Wars Holiday Special.

"Canon" has never meant "good", and "non-canon" has never meant "bad". This has never been about making value judgments. This has only ever been about figuring out where things "fit" in the universe.

That, and coats would probably stretch the budget too much. They've already said that Vader's cape alone was really taxing on their budget, to the point that they were relieved when they realized they could get away with leaving it off when he's in his TIE.

I'd prefer that Hondo at least keep his coat instead of the weird leisure suit he has, but I can live with it. He looks weird but the personality is still there.

The Clone Wars started like that as well, I remember the original movie and first season looking 100 percent fucking horrible with the gross ass angular blocky art that didnt work at all in 3D. As the show went on they gave it more and more of a budget so the textures, animations, and lighting got better and better. I have faith Rebels will do the same once Disney is sure it's a big enough hit to be worth investing in

I made room by room by removing inactive players. (I don't do that often, only if the Cartel is full and it looks like some members have quit the game)

The update has a shitton of bug fixes and balancing for Gear and Weapons.

You can now set custom appearances via blueprints you unlock, meaning you can have the stats of Stormtrooper Gear, but set your appearance to look like a Rebel Soldier if you have the Blueprint.

General layout of things is much smoother, you can sort things when salvaging/selling so you make sure you dont get rid of stuff you might need later.

Premium Crane is only 40 Chromium now, but you get less chromium from unlocking blueprints. There's also a far cheaper chromium purchase for players who regularly log on, and a way to buy credits with chromium.

PR system has been balanced so it's easier to progress and you aren't hindered for playing through the story. But the game is more challenging to account for this.

Not sure if I could do it before, but as cartel leader, I can set our daily Cartel Opportunities to a certain planet (currently set to the Star Destroyer above Bespin) and I can also name out Cartel Droid.

I named our droid S1-1E3V

Probably more updated than that, but that was off the top of my head. New Story Missions and level cap is raised when enough Level 40 Players do missions on the Star Destroyer over Bespin. (Seems like that will happen soon, people predict in the next 3 days)

Lastly, to anybody interested in playing but doesn't have or want to use a tablet/mobile device, just a reminder that you can download Bluestacks Android Emulator and play it for free on your Laptop/PC.

It's a fun game if you don't mind a bit of repetitiveness/grinding (although I think the recent update has helped with that)

Oh, I forgot to say. The new Update allows you to pick a faction permanantly.

There are 5 in the game so far, but two of them are locked until presumably after Bespin unlocks.

One of them is Rebels, so is GUESS one of the two locked ones is Empire. But that's just my speculation.

You can get Stormtrooper Gear as well as Rebel Gear so that's more proof that you can probably eventually side with the Empire.

So far the story is leaning towards you being a Merc/Smuggler who helps the Rebellion a bit. Where it goes from here is anybodies guess though.

The fact that the game is missing so much relevant content, most of which is tied to the Prequels, kinda' hints that they're extreme OT purists that don't really look twice at anything that isn't the OT.

Nothing from Rebels or anything either.

There's the Battle of Jakku, but they're only doing it because of TFA hype $$$, not because it's a battle in the Lost Stars book.

That's why the trailer says "29 years before TFA" and doesn't mention anything about how the actual battle itself is told in Lost Stars.

Honestly, Dice have come off as complete elitist pricks who want to make a game about what THEY think Star Wars should be.

Telling us "Space battles arent fun" is pretty much proof of that, they don't give a fuck about the franchise as a whole, they just want to make a shooter that looks like Star Wars. And it DOES look like Star Wars, of that I will give them praise. Credit where it's due.

But it's still missing so much, and lacking so much charm. It feels kind of... Soulless.

In Lords of the Sith, he uses it pretty much for fun. He's spinning around with glee slicing up giant bugs on Ryloth. He coulda' zapped them, sure. But where's the fun in that? He literally, canonically likes spinning around with a lightsaber. We also have visual evidence of it when he fights Maul.

Now yes, you COULD suggest by the end of his reign he was beyond that. But this is a videogame, none of his appearances are canon, because he never actually fought in these battles. So they should be giving us all of Sheevs toys, so to speak. They've intentionally chosen to have him playable with no Lightsabers.

In the now non canon Plagueius novel its established that he dislikes lightsaber combat. His master felt the same way. They both felt it was beneath them, that said they were both damn good at it.

They hated it but accepted that it was necessary when dealing with someone equally strong in the force. In rots Yoda probably could have handled all the lightning he could throw at him, he had to do something else.

By the time of rotj though as far as he's concerned the only other strong force user is his bitch so what would he need one for?

Yes, I'm not an idiot. But the battle doesn't happen in TFA. It happens in Lost Stars, and is visually represented in Battlefront.

Yes, I KNOW both exist to tie into TFA. But Dice made no acknowledgement to Lost Stars, so far anyway. It just comes across as them yet again not caring. I mean, that's the canon version of events for this big battle, and it feels like they dont know it exists. I know the LSG is working among them to keep things consistent, and thank fuck for that, because Dice clearly dont care. They've ignored just about every fan demand possible.

Hoth and Endor are the battlefront standards, because theyre the two big OT battles.

So that means that everything fans would ask for would be everything that isn't those two maps, right?

But instead, Dice did completely original shit, with Sullust. They decided not to bother with space battles, and rather use the planets as backdrops. They ignore all canon material and haven't bothered look into EU stuff to see what might work there. They ignored the prequels, and the cartoons and comics and books, and we're left with a game that has 4 planets.

Pretty shitty to be honest, I dont have the slightest inclination at all that Dice gives the slightest shit about fans. The fact thats theres day 1 DLC and a 4-pack season pass already on sale says it all...

Fuck Dice so much.

Yoda DID handle all the lightning he threw at him. Save that single blast at the start, which Yoda still got up after and hurled Sheev across the room for good measure. And at the end, you can see Yoda is actively overpowering Palpy's own lightning despite it being thrown at him full force. The only reason Yoda wound up losing is because he couldn't kill him fast enough before reinforcements arrived, and he fell all the way through the Senate chamber. Time was the problem.

Palpatine got lucky in that fight. Yoda had the edge.

That first fight was the only "fair" fight Yoda would ever get and yea not enough time.

I was thinking over the plot of the prequels and the one thing that really fell short for me was how much a threat the Separatists.

So Lucas was trying to mimic Roman history and the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire.
That makes sense.
Star Wars already took a lot from Roman history.

But the key point for Rome to turn from hating kings to accepting a supreme ruler for life was a civil war.

It was a major splitting point for the people. Naturally, it's not so simple, but the sake of narrative, you can really put down the acceptance of an Emperor as people making sure to take the winning side in a tumultuous conflict.

Essentially, what the prequels needed was a Space-Pompey.
And, no, Dooku wasn't him.

Prequel 1: Senator Bail Organa and his wifePadme are sent by the Republic to Space-Syria to negotiate a peace. Jedi Knight Obi-wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin are sent along to protect them. We have their characters established. Padme and Anakin fall in love. Shit goes south, Space-Pompey swoops in and annexes Space-Syria. Everything looks good! The Republic wins. But Senator Sheev is watching cautiously.

Prequel 2: A few years later, Sheev wants to attack Space-Gaul. This is the Clone Wars. Obi-wan and Anakin go along as honour guards to Sheev. Padme comes too for what is an increasingly transparent reason to be with Anakin. War goes down. Anakin has his morals tested. Some Dark side teases. Back in the Republic Space-Pompey is rising a shit storm over Sheev's "illegal" Clone Wars. Sheev wins the Clone Wars and now is facing trial in Space-Rome. He decides to cross the Space-Rubicon and head back with his army. Dun dun.

Prequel 3: Civil War between Space-Pompey and Sheev. Jedi try to be neutral but eventually side with Space-Pompey when Sheev decides to attack him with a Republic Army. The Jedi, led by Obi-Wan, go to arrest Sheev. Anakin defends him. Jedi are outlaws, Space-Pompey defeated. Emperor Sheev.

I agree and that's why I'm much more excited for the new trilogy. Even if Lucas hired better directors, writers and producers for the prequels, there would still be the problem that we already knew what was going to happen from the very beginning, so everything had to add up. With the new trilogy, nobody knows what's going to happen which will make things more thrilling and interesting, and the writers have more creative freedom and don't need to worry so much about connecting everything to the OT.

Yes, yes, taxes and shit. But wasn't Naboo part of the Republic? Isn't taxation determined by the Senate at Coruscant?

The blockade was public and the Senate knew about it.

The invasion itself was secret because they wanted to get that treaty signed, so that by the time the Senate knew about the invasion, they would already have this treaty where Naboo basically just says it "fell down the space stairs".

The Senate would easily be able to figure out that no, this was a real invasion, but the treaty's a loophole protecting the Trade Federation from punishment.

Well I think the idea was that the senate would have no real choice but to go along with it. Palpatine didn't ask for approval first, he gunned the Jedi down and THEN told the senate that they were traitors. I'm sure there were plenty of people that were suspicious but who's gonna go asking? Anybody who did probably met an untimely end as a Jedi collaborator. The clones at the temple almost killed Bail Organa.

Remember, the Emperor's whole MO was subjugation through fear.

You can't stop a supernova, but you'd probably know that would happen before the star actually blew up, but yeah, they most likely have evacuation plans for the events such as Rogue neutron stars, gamma burst rays, black holes. AS for the Asteroids they have weapons that can destroy them, like seismic bombs.

Thanks. Yeah, as much as I love Bane's character from the trilogy, his design always felt awkward (as much as I loved his motif of collecting long-lost relics of extremely ancient Sith and adding them to his new traditions). I love the ancient wuxia design TCW gave him, and I really hope we get to see his story retold in that style.

I've been thinking about getting into the new canon now that I'm through with the hissy fit I threw about the EU no longer being part of the official canon.

Where should I start?
Is it finally time to watch Clone Wars? Is it even worth it? The first cartoon really did not seem that appealing to me when it came out especially the weird style.

I did watch the first season of Rebels and was pleasantly surprised.
Any tips on how to get into this all best?

Watch TCW. The later seasons especially do a much better job than the prequels at telling the origin stories of many characters.

A lot of the new books are excellent as well, Tarkin, Lost Stars and Lords of the Sith are all excellent.

You should use pic related for the first season of TCW, as it is pretty shit in places.

Also Lando and Vader are definitely worth reading on the comic side of things, the links are in the OP.

First and foremost, watch TCW right away. Is it good? Fuck yes it's good, it blows Rebels out of the water. And I like Rebels.

When you're done with TCW, then catch up on Rebels so you can join this threads hype for new episodes.

Then the comics. Thankfully, there isn't many out yet, and they're all in the OP posts, so you can get through them easy, or buy the Trades.

Then all that's left are the books and games and shit. If you don't feel like doing them all, then pick and choose what's best for you.

I was under the impression he couldn't master it properly. He managed to retain his spirit but couldnt manifest himself to show or speak to people. Until he did plenty of training however. That's one of the reasons why I haven't yet. I wasn't quite over the EU-thing and knew I wouldn't enjoy the new canon as much if I just jumped in.

Big question: Is that guide you posted just for the bare minimum of TCW or is it essentially skipping all the shitty and non-plot-related parts? Because, well, just 4 or 7 episodes out of an entire season seems pretty harsh. Isn't there quite a bit of plot lost that way?

Anyways, the first season or so has a slow start, but stick with it, the show gets so fucking good down the road, you'll be glad by the end. It's an emotional ride for sure.

I remember in the movie, theres a part where Ahsoka hopes up on the AT-TE as it's climbing up the wall.

I literally said "Damn, that driver has a good view". Had everyone in the theater laughing.

There's also a reference to the Stormtrooper that bumps his head in ANH, in the TCW show, where Rex bumps his head, but it literally happens because he is staring at Ahsoka's butt.

If anybody has that gif, I'd be grateful.

Everyone always acts like the Jedi were just shitheads in TCW era. The only reason they seemed lost was because Palpatine FORCED their hand into this war. They were all still against all of this and didn't even want to kill. Hell the beginning of Dark Disciple has Mace going "We should assassinate Dooku" and everyone including Yoda and Obi-Wan flip their shit at Mace because WE'RE JEDI WE DON'T DO THAT. I think the problem here is that people equate Light Side with Jedi and Dark Side with Sith. Jedi are students of the light and Sith are students of the dark, but the Sith aren't the dark side. If you destroy the Sith fucking over the galaxy you're not destroying the dark side, you're just destroying the assholes using the dark side to fuck everything up. Some other asshole could come along and use the dark side to a similar effect and not be a Sith.

The Chosen One restored balance by effectively resetting everything to zero.

Lucas has talked about this several times.

There's an interview with Bill Moyers, an interview in the vhs special edition of a new hope, and a few other places I'm not going to remember off the top of my head.

The issue I think is in word choice. What Lucas really seems to mean is to restore "harmony" to the force. If you think of it that way, you won't struggle with the possible interpretations of balance.

Anyway, he's 100% clear that the destruction of the sith was restoring balance to the force.

There's really no evidence of that. Other than bad eggs like Krell the teachings seem to have worked pretty well and everyone understands that Jedi shouldn't be generals but their hands are tied.

And even in their roles as generals they stop themselves from going too far and always remember and remind others of their teachings.

But that ended up being the correct choice.

Anakin already had too much baggage and that's what fucked him up. He was raised a slave and had too many biases and attachments.

Take a look at Obi-Wan by comparison who has gone through his own tragedies and was still able to come back to his teachings and remain in control. Satine because the perfect example.

We see multiple times throughout TCW and obviously the movies just how him spending his formative years as a slave colored much of his outlook on things causing him to act with a bleeding heart in very un-Jedi like ways.

And oh look when shit finally hit the fan his emotions got in the way and he destroyed the Jedi.

Instead the job fell to Obi-Wan, who was not only inexperienced as a teacher but much more by-the-book than Qui-Gon. By Obi-Wan's own admission, he failed as a teacher. We even see it in AOTC when Anakin is trying to talk to him about his dreams and his anxiety over his mother. Obi-Wan's approach is to just dismiss it and tell him he'll get over it.

2. Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2. I like the idea of the destruction of the Jedi order by the Sith and being restarted by a handful of people.

3. Genndywars and all the stories it told but w/o the dramatized depiction of the force. That way we get to keep Anakin's vision in the cave, and the introduction to the Battle of Coruscant. Ahsoka doesn't have to be present for the events it depicted, anyway.

It's easier to just say the prequel Jedi are complete idiots. The balance of the Force prophecy was a hard reset by the Force itself to finally end their stagnant carcass of a religion and give the Sith a chance at ruling the Galaxy. Then when Sheev fucked that up, it gave Luke all the tools he needed to redeem the Jedi and make them work again.

Here's the reality. Anakin never had a father. Qui Gon was briefly a father figure to him, but Obi Wan never was, he was like an older brother.

The void was filled by Palpatine acting like a father figure.

If Qui Gon had been around, Anakin wouldn't have turned to Palpatine for that role.

It was Qui-Gon's dying request, so they decided to honor it.

Yoda DOES recognize some signs, but he doesn't realize how deep they go. For example, he senses Anakin's pain on Tatooine but has no idea he has also committed mass murder. As far as the Jedi knew, he was just a troubled teenager going through some issues. It's important to remember that they don't see everything the audience sees, so they don't know how far into the abyss Anakin has been staring. Yoda isn't omniscient and the growing dark side clouding his and the other Jedi's ability to sense things certainly didn't help.

I'm pretty sure that in-universe, the personality is a programming quirk rather than a design element.

It's expensive enough giving each one their own processor to avoid another "little hotshot flew his plane and saved the day" incident like what happened on Naboo. Better to give them a cheaper processor that's "good enough" rather than splurging. Save the thinking for the tactical droids at the back, not the grunts at the front.

Tactical droids are a thing; you'll encounter them later on, during the first season.

It does improve SLIGHTLY. They never extensively remodeled Dooku's beard, but they did alter the proportions in the later seasons to look more reasonable.

Everyone got an art upgrade in the later seasons, really.

In universe, the droids are mass produced. Lower intelligence = cheaper to produce. They are designed to overwhelm, not out smart. There are special unit droids though that show up up later seasons. Pic related.

It's pretty prominent in the first half of season 1, and continues every now and then into season 2. But once you hit the end of season 2 into season 3, it's all fun killing, Vietnam war tributes and beheadings.

It was stitched together out of four episodes.

Episode 1: Anakin gets Ahsoka, Battle of Christophsis happens, Republic victory.

Episode 2: Jabba's son is kidnapped, Anakin and Ahsoka fight their way into the palace on Teth, begin to search for Rotta the Huttlet.

Well damn. The choreography for the fight Dooku vs Anakin at the end is quite good.

And the way it starts out is nice. Anakin on the defense with Soresu but getting a little bit riled up when Dooku provokes him, giving plenty of openings.

But why the dickens didn't Dooku feel that the Huttling was not in the backpack? Or why didn't the droids keep tracking the lifeform signals? They were able to distinguish between humanoid and Hutt no problem.

I have to admit: I'm surprised at how good it was. I originally, years ago, expected much worse but it's really decent. There was some stupidity for the sake of the plot, but I can live with that, especially in a Star Wars movie, considering things like the Death Stars... design flaws.

I'm looking forward to the series proper and will now watch 'Cat and Mouse' and after that 'Hidden Enemy'.

"Master" is a standard form of address for a Jedi, even if that's not their rank. You'll notice Obi-Wan gets referred to as master often in AOTC despite only being a knight.

People, including other Jedi, refer to other established Jedi has "Master Jedi", regardless of rank. It's not addressing their rank, it's just a formal title. Ahsoka gets called Master Jedi once in a while, too.

The way I've interpreted as is Jedi Knights can have padawans and be "masters", but to be on the Jedi Council, you need to be a "Master of the force", which is just shortened to master in the Jedi order for some reason.

So In Ep. III, Anakin has been a "master", but he is not ranked as a "Master of the Force" yet, since he is not a member of the council.

Prepare your anus for the story arc in season 1 where R2-D2 goes missing. Those were test episodes for Lucas to see if he wanted to make the series or not. It has the worst animation and dialogue in the series.
