>>77088276I wasn't really referring to the original art or the royalties it's more to do with the simple stuff like pay and insurance like a regular job will entitle you to have
Marvel was bought out and they were trying to cut cost by skimming off the artists Shooter stepped in for them
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0MX4q5mUo0It's weird how Stan Lee was already looking to give better deals to new artist when he made Comix Book with Denis Kitchen pre-Kitchen Sink Press and Comic Book Legal Defense Fund
well Lee was giving better deals to these new artists like Art Spiegelman and the in-house company guys got pissed and the comic line feel under but it was a good experiment it's weird how when you work for the big publishing company you lee all your rights because you work as a freelance work-for-hire and management has their hands tied because you work for the higher ups and it's their company and money so they get to call the shots but Shooter didn't give a fuck cause he was based like Miller and Adams were but Shooter was in a better position of power so he got to flex it more than others for better or for worse but we can agree he wasn't the worst and everyone has mistakes like Infantino's decision to have Curt Swan draw over Kirby's Superman something about Kirby drawing Superman in his usual style pissed off Infantino
Kirby always had the worst of luck with his partners Joe Simon was just as "bad" as Lee I hate to use the word bad because of the
>implications and contextI think Lee did have creative input in the creations along with Kirby almost like a Steve Jobs/Wozniak role with Kirby being Wozniak creative genius and Lee being the gutsy salesman that polished up the work and knew how to market
Simon usually was uptown working the social scene going out to lunch with the big wigs because he was a tall white Jew with a good background while Kirby came from the ghetto dropped out of school and was a short fellow
ok that was a tangent
