My core problem with Carl will always be that they waited too long to do it, and by the time they did, all creative, and writing talent had left the building resulting in the most forced hamfisted transition possible, and that it never even would have happened if it wasn't because the MCU needed their own "Wonder Woman" and they had no other viable options but her.
They had a chance to do it after House of M, but they decided to stick with the tried and true, and we DID get one of her best solo series out of it during that era, but it was a missed opportunity.
