Koala's dad was like the main reason why I was rooting for him in the first movie despite his many flaws, I liked how the movie implies between the lines that they had a deep bond but the guy is already dead, and that losing the theater was like losing his father all over again. Then in the sequel the koala is already bored with his shiny new theater, there's zero mention of the dead father despite one of the main themes of the movie is making peace with the death of a loved one, a teen girl who's only traumatic experience we know of is a bad breakup gets put in the role of the therapist despite the koala being right there, and the koala is somehow even more of a stupid asshole in this movie despite having no good excuse this time around, like, he pressures his crew (now also his friends) to enter the auditions via cheating and lying even though most of them weren't even enthusiastic about the idea of leaving the Moon theater, and he flagrantly puts their careers and lives in danger because of another stupid transparent lie, I guess he learned jackshit from he first movie.
