>>127890548>We could really just talk right now about how did we felt overall of StC.yeah, I was hoping to use the StCO threads for that anyway
I'm someone who read StC as it came out, but eventually dropped it around #80 or something(near the start of the SUper Sonic separation arc) as my interest waned. I don't entirely remember why, though I think phasing out all the non-Sonic strips might have been a factor.
Re-reading it, I enjoyed it, though I think it's a bit breezy and lightweight, like Sonic and the other seem to beat most of their enemies really quickly and easily, without much struggle(I'm sort of impressed that everyone seems to be able to destroy robots by punching them).
Thanks to the storytime, I sort of wish I kept going at least until #100 and the temporary end of the Super Sonic storyline, that was a legitimately exciting and fun arc.
Knuckles was my favourite character here, he just seemed like a really cool, competent tough-guy character, without ever overdoing it and making it feel like the writers were pushing him at the expense of others.
Chaotix, I think I always liked back in the day, but here I totally loved them, I'm not sure if it's because I dropped it before it became apparent what utter fuck-ups they are.
I enjoyed their appearances so much, I even made the questionable choice to buy Sonic Heroes for the PS2(and doing some of their missions has drained all joy from me)
The Brotherhood of Metallix storyline was probably my other favourite, though I did think it was resolved a little too easily.
Elson was by far and away my favourite artist, his colouring's especially beautiful, but I think he drew a lot of great pages too, like the DeathEgg taking off and the 2nd Metallix fight.
I do think his renditions of the Sonic characters look a bit odd sometimes.
I was never that keen on Amy's solo stories, as I thought she was a pretty bland character.
