The whole Democracy thing will eventually cease to function if half the voting population is willing to win the election at all costs and will overlook things like stormong the Capitol. There aren't really any bridges too far, no lines that can't be crossed. With enough bad policy, if Republicans achieve enough legislative control, they may be able to transform the whoke thing into a faux republic with a voting system where the minority party just can't win at all, and then it's done.
In a simpler word, the Democrats are the party that causes disappointment and resentment by always failing us, and the Republicans are the party of resentment without thinking. For the Democrats to change is an uphill battle against the broken system they created to enrich themselves and the allies in private equity or so on. For the Republicans, they need merely to be lazy and break the system further, and their riches lay within total corruption.
