>In Tourist Trapped, when Dipper's trying to convince Mabel that there's something wrong with Norman, she cracks a joke that if he's so sure, he should dress up as her to get close to him and prove it
>Dipper simply ignores the joke and tells Mabel to take things seriously
>Two episodes later, in Headhunters, Mabel suggests, more seriously this time, that Dipper would have an easier time sneaking into the Skull Fracture bar if he dressed up as a girl
>Dipper again ignores this
>Next episode, in The Hand That Rocks The Mabel, Mabel begs Dipper in tears to impersonate her and see Gideon in her place
>Dipper takes Mabel's hurt seriously, but rejects this idea instead simply breaks up with Gideon on her behalf, as he does in the actual episode
>When things go badly, Dipper wonders, just for a moment, if he should have run with Mabel's weird crossdressing plan
>As in canon, Dipper is humiliated two episodes in a row - forced to perform the Lamby Lamby Dance in front of Wendy in The Inconveniencing, and rejected as a man by the Manotaurs in the episode literally called Dipper Vs Manliness
>In Double Dipper, Mabel smugly interjects that the Dipper clones should distract boys from Wendy by dressing in drag
>Dipper and the clones gang up on her and tell her that it's a stupid idea; she runs away crying and Dipper feels really bad about it
>In Irrational Treasure, Dipper is worried he might be partially responsible for Mabel's bout of insecurity in her silliness
>In fact Mabel is playing up that insecurity specifically to manipulate him into that reaction, after Double Dipper
>After The Time Traveler's Pig, where Dipper completely yields to Mabel, he's much more open to her input in the future
