Good morning, spookies! I know it's a little sad to come up to the last weekend, but we have some bombastic stream plans to ease the burden and make this a great end. Tonight is the final Ghoul themed stream, because tomorrow is going to be one of the big Spooktober traditions. So expect a lot of ghost stories in tonight's stream at 7 EST!

Just watched Child's Play 2, it was pretty good, i enjoyed it, perhaps even more than the first, i just wonder how that fucker managed to survived after being carbonized and shot in the heart. Also, i took a quick look at the sequels and apparently he's gonna get a wife and a child, i guess Charles is fine with being a doll now.
Anonymous
>>126678719 Dude I just watched all 7 (8 if you count the reboot) Chucky movies this month for the first time, seriously not one of them is bad. How have I never watched these before? 3 is a bit of a drop off from 2 imo but still good, and from 4 on they really lean in to the campy comedy aspect the whole thing. Plus the sequel tv series to movie 7 just started airing, no better time to binge.
I loved the doll factory setting of 2 as well, really impressive set design.

I don't see anyone asking for candies since last year. Or anyone in costume to some cocaine addiction party Is Halloween just a candy and art month at this point?
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>126679002 you could argue christmas is just candy and singing at this point. there will always be people who will engage with the holiday in the most shallow, have hearted way and still have a good time. that doesn't diminish the importance of the holiday.
also covid, people don't want to go to parties anymore.
Anonymous
>>126679002 It sure feels like people are losing out on the spirit for whatever reason. Upsets me really, I love this holiday like no other.
It's dumb but I wish businesses and towns would really embrace it like they did twenty, thirty years ago. Decorate places, even if it's just goofy small additions. It goes a long way.

I also liked the factory part, now i wonder what's gonna happen to Andy, the government can't just deny what happened to him with the several doll organs all around the factory.
>>126679135 I'm not sure if you're supposed to take Chucky seriously, i don't think he's scary at all, i'm more concerned about the fate of Andy.
Anonymous
>>126679135 I get that, I think that's why it took so long for me to want to watch them. But if you lean into the premise I think it works, they get progressively less serious as they go on so you can just enjoy the ridiculousness of it. I've seen a lot of slasher/horror movies and there's nothing quite as joyful as Chucky the little doll just laughing his ass off in a gravelly man's voice as he kills people. Half the time he's just doing it because he loves it, and I think that sets him apart from the other iconic villains. Except maybe Freddy.

>>126680326 Up until the 23rd, I watch at least one Christmas-themed film, the main caveats are that I can't fill the entire list with movies were Christmas is just a passing element (A movie like Crumbs, despite being pure kino and having Santa Claus, does not count as such), although I put one or two if I need a filler and if they have enough elements to be watched around that time, like Die Hard (Which for me is a little debatable on being a Christmas film personally), but those are not the rule. It's not necessary that they have to be all jolly (I watched Silent Night Deadly Night, Christmas Evil and Elves for instance) as well, but Christmas has to be the main element. And the main rule that I imposed is that the one film I don't watch on that day can't be skipped, I have to watch it before I can go on to the next one. Another thing that I did the following year is to not put more than 6 films that I already did the last year. At the 24 I watch mostly christmas specials, the classics like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Mickey's Christmas Carol and others, and on Christmas Day it's a double feature with two of my favorites: It's a Wonderful Life for classic and Gremlins for modern. I guess it's because I have less things to do on December in general and since there are only 23 days, it's not as big as 31, although with Halloween, I can get loose and not watch only Halloween-themed films Anonymous

On Tanis and her personality. I think you could do what's called flanderization and exaggerate what was in the original movie.>Tanis in the movie is a sweet girl that wants to win a trophy for some reason In the series she should be this. Tanis is ambitious and wants to prove herself but is in general a shy down to earth girl who isn't as competitive as Winnie and wishes to win for herself not for proving to be the best. After all she was a child when she become a mummy, meaning she died at such young age that had no time to become a pharaoh or to enjoy her life as princess as a teen. She is worse than a forgotten dinasty of egypt as they were remembered once in life, Tanis was never considered beyond "daughter of the current pharaoh" and so was unknown to everyone. So she wants to be worthy of being a princess beyond birth right and win to show she is someone worth of attention.

Watched a bunch of 90s Halloween cartoon specials, including the Tiny Toons Night Ghoulery. Way too much Hampton and Plucky, not enough Fifi, but we did get to see her with sharp teeth, and an Eric W. Schwartz type said she should have her own show, which I agreed with.

Fear is built into our DNA, and getting spooked sends the same adrenaline rush as joy through laughter. And if you're not into that aspect, there are centuries of stories and history that span across all mediums. The aesthetics of the Halloween season are some of the most unique. No other time exists where people of all sorts gather to celebrate things that ordinarily should be harmful to us, be it dangerous animals, monsters, things associated with death, or rooted in evil. And the candy and costumes bring nostalgic feelings of being a kid, when the world seemed so much larger and mysterious. If people trick-or-treat in your neighborhood, use it as an opportunity to bring kids happiness during a time when their childhoods are being cucked. Otherwise find a haunted house to visit, or something nature-based to enjoy.
I hope you can get some happiness from this holiday anon.

It hasn't been a great Halloween this year. It is my favorite holiday and usually I do multiple holiday related things (haunts, movies, escape rooms etc). My social circle has completely unraveled so I don't really have anyone to go anywhere with. I'm trying to patch things up with my ex but he doesn't seem interested beyond booking a hotel which makes me feel bad. But I've been enjoying some good /co/ content, I've rewatched Over the Garden Wall for the first time in years, saw Paranorman and Coraline and Monster House for the first time, planning to watch Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride.

>>126679066 . I do think some of the festiveness has evaporated away, in some ways. But in others it has only gotten bigger. Halloween is a huge consumer holiday. But it might depend on where you live. Where I live now I'm worried that trick or treating is dying. But more and more events are popping up. Haunts get fucking packed. There are carnivals, escape rooms, corn mazes, lots of things like that. What is noticeable about what has changed though is that the stuff that is increasing is FOR PROFIT private events. By contrast it seems like the freely given community led holiday spirit is waning. It is hard to tell if people put in less effort though because there are so many other outlets. Without all these paid events maybe communities would step in to fill the void left behind. My mom said that when I was young local government actually paid decorators but as the demographics of the area changed they stopped paying so modern homeowners here seem to care less or maybe they are just cheap and don't want to pitch in, idk. It is a shame. I wish the mall would at least decorate. I work someplace that interfaces with the public so we tried to dress it up a little bit in case kids come in to ask for candy.
