>>126648434>But you miss out on the stuff that people who read the other chapters would pick up on.Trust me, that's really not an issue. The small scene of present-day Duane telling the story made me really want to find out how he went from that to being a zombie surrounded by young girls and lizards.
You're right about the second part though. Also, the rise of Hiveworks, Webtoon, Lezhin (r18 works), and others - in just sticking with hosting platforms there's so much content that most readers aren't looking for independent comics anymore. desu Unsounded is the last and only independent comic I've picked up in 5+ years.
And I mean, we know that Unsounded is solid, but independent comics are risky to become invested in. Less than 5% of the long-form comics I picked up were ever finished, and only one dropped story of hundreds was kind enough to offer a summary. Obviously comics wouldn't be dropped if their creator was making enough money, but this is the internet.
Of course, Unsounded can and does attract gore and dark theme enthusiasts that can't get their fix on official platforms, but that's not exactly a huge audience.
...I wish there was a solution in there, but the bottom line is that this comic needs promotion, because the likelihood of someone stumbling on it organically is only decreasing.
