But consider this: When Sasha goes in the basement she stumbles "immediately" upon the diary, reads the final entry, tears up and makes her decision in what direction she kinda wants to move forward.
All in a really short timespan.
Next scene after we cut is at dawn with the giant mech attacking after she comes clear to the townfolks.
The "build up" wasn't as much the problem for me (as I consider the build up to be everything till she finds it), it was that just reading that final entry was a little bit cheap. I mean, I did not need all of Anne's thoughts in detail, but like a "montage" to show Sasha read the thing and us hearing snippets of the lines woudl ahve been nice.
Something to also show that Sasha gets the picture now "fully" from Anne's perspective in a way, including that Anne cared for her even after Reunion etc. and that Sasha's worst fears were in a way partly in her head.
