>>125638011I can only speak from my own contributions to it and the discussions I've had with Artist-Anon.
From my understanding, Conner is immensely frustrated with himself and that is reflected in the comic itself. So you have stories where he's just trading stuff because that's what he does, and then you have stories where his resentment of not being able to be a super boils to the forefront. Think of him as wearing a mask at all times that he can switch to a different mask on the fly.
The next thing I want to talk about also pertains to GG and many other /co/ projects. Because they are projects out in the open, it means all of the major twists and turns and upsets are publicly vetted. While this does garner interest, it also garners ire because it takes an immense amount of time and investment to get to those points of interest. You can't just reveal the twists in the first issue, that would be meaningless without a proper build up.
/co/ seldom has the patience for this even though it is a necessary element in story telling. Now you can call me full of shit if you'd like, but this is my honest opinion formed from years of being involved in various /coc/ projects. You get involved, then you get pissed because it feels like nothing gets done. This is actually true for a lot of things /co/ comes up with since they often times don't go anywhere, but when one does, the anger is much more visible since it is constantly in conversation. It runs the risk of killing a project.
Bringing this back, take Conner's cuffs for example. Why is he cuffed? What did he do to merit that? It's not explained, nor will it be explained until much later. In the current comic being inked, the seeds are planted to hint at Conner's troubled home life and family circumstances, but not further elaborated on. The presentation is slow, but deliberate. Or at least that's how I look at it and try to help facilitate.
