She was dark and brooding during the Simone's run, then DC oversteered into a chipper hipster territory when people started complaining she's a bit *too* dark and brooding, then they doubled down on the chipper hipster angle to the point people started complaining she's too childish now, then the next writer kinda sorta turned things around and managed to make Babs into an actually fun character and things were actually fine for a while, so DC couldn't have that so they fired the writer and Babs was back to dark and brooding territory once again.
And Babs was a brooding, salty bitch as Oracle as well, but then she had an excuse that her legs weren't working and she was too much of a martyr to get them fixed.
