>>125286314This post made me realize that Stolas seems preoccupied with not getting into any trouble because of Blitzo (as he said as much to him) yet he doesn't seem to realize that he's already in plenty of trouble from it. There was gonna be trouble from the moment he proposed that deal for the book, but doesn't seem willing to see his faults in this, yet.
Stella being angry is already trouble, Octavia's life and tranquility being disrupted is already trouble, and if any of it snowballs into something much, much worse, even if it was because of something Blitzo did, it would still be Stolas' fault for lending him the book in the first place.
Yet despite all of this, he doesn't seem to want to deal with it yet, acting like it's no big deal, outright ignoring it until it goes away, trying to make impossible things work by mixing two sides that can never meet which his his relationship with Blitzo and his family, two things he loves but that he can't both have unless he owns up to his choices.
Now he even seems to be downplaying his relationship with Blitzo himself, though maybe the imp constantly rejecting him played a part in that, as well. Maybe he's scared if he was upfront about his feelings, Blitzo would cut things off because he's not into it, but the more he puts up this wall the more Blitzo feels the distance between them and overthinks it, as we saw.
But to be fair, current Blitzo is so confused and scared that if Stolas did in fact confess to him, he would actually probably reject him.
And I also am not sure that even Stolas himself realized the depth of his feelings for Blitzo yet.
But judging from episode 2, at least with how he acts with his daughter, he doesn't seem malicious, just very daft. He definitely needs Blitzo to speak his mind and tell him off and cut the deal, before he realizes all the problems and feelings I described. And I think it's probably going to happen.
Stolas is going to try to keep it all, and he'll lose everything instead.
