I had a crush on a person in my college class a few years back. After talking with them a few days, I found out they were actually graduated the previous year from my old high school and I learned that when they were there, they identified as pan and eventually came out as NB (now they use male pronouns). Also, three of my sister's friends from that high school were open lesbians during their time there and my other sister's best friend is a gay guy.
When I was going to high school (not too long ago), it sucked being even slightly queer. Now, it seems far more acceptable and open couples are very much a thing. It's pretty cool, dude.
