I just got back from two weeks without internet, and caught up with the show. That whole Eda dream sequence was pretty fucking neato, and harpy Eda expands dong. Also Eda's Requiem had some of the coolest magic use we've seen so far, Darius was badass.
It feels like S2 is just surging in quality as it goes on, I'm worried that a real stinker of an episode might break the trajectory.

This art and other "Muh sibling" art is real annoying considering after their whole adventure Hunter barely was tolerated as something not too hate completely after he rescued Luz repeatedly and risked his life and career to allow her to win.

The most bonding came from their mutual interest in wild magic which Hunter quickly supressed.

It is undeniably improving from season 1 but for every step they take, they take another two steps back.
Personally, while I like that there is no more filler and every episode leads to something, I also feel that they put too much plot at once and there is no time for the characters to breathe. As such, I am not really emotionally invested or intrigued for the plot and characters.
There is enough stuff to keep an eye on it but nothing nearly as good to make me be at the edge of my seat in anticipation of what's next given how everything just sort of...happens, with very little momentum or significance.

Yeah, they are not siblings at all and people used that as a cope for the straight ship, which they didn't need since Lumity was always destined to win, I don't see the issue with people having crack ships that pose no threat to you.
And yeah, they were begrudging allies at best. They had some neat interactions but nothing that implied siblings. Their relationship MIGHT become that later, but so far its not that at all.

I hate this argument because by your logic anyone who sees them as siblings is automatically being insincere because the most OBVIOUS dynamic that we were all supposed to see was a romantic one but everyone is just in denial. Some people don't multi-ship, others have been waiting for a ship like Lumity for so long they're not going to be ok with Luz getting with a guy. People who do ship it obviously don't deserve harassment, but you also aren't owed content or for other fans to take it seriously. Right now Hunter and Luz obviously don't see each other as friends, let alone siblings, but the fandom is rooting for him to switch sides and for it to develop that way. Considering that one of the show's themes is the strength of a found family, it's not far-fetched to think that's their endgame dynamic.

the issue is that most people assume they already have that sibling dynamic and they don't. And that is used against some people who ship them as a crack ship or for anything, like "THEY ARE NOT IN LOVE THEY ARE SIBLINGS" pretty hard.
Obviously if he redeems himself and joins the main family and he and Luz get along, yeah, they might be siblings, but jumping to conclusions so fast and assuming its an absolute is the issue here.

That's fine, and Lumity was also a bold assumption, I just feel it got too big overnight and felt like a cope. Obviously not for every fan, some fans just liked the idea and dont care about the ship with Hunter, but it did feel like it happened too fast. And now most of the fandom has that assumption, at least outside of /co/
Their relationship is more like Aang and Zuko and I dont see too many people calling them siblings.

As the other anon said, that's something Aang would totally do.
Beyond the hand licking, its a very sturn character trying to take things seriously while the other has fun messing with them. All the while both try to get the upper hand of the other one. They get a moment of bonding but eventually split apart once their interests clash again.
I think the sibling angle is also helped by the fact most of the heroes don't really mess with each other that much so seeing two characters with that attitude is new for the show.

Voltron is a prime example of tokenism in my honest opinion. Dana may of pandered to the gays but she definitely did not want to put amity, Luz, or Eda and even Raine if you think about it as tokenisms. They fact that they don't even talk about sexuality in the show is pretty impressive and makes it less annoying.

I know that. But as a fellow illustrator, its nice to see animation becoming more inclusive. I know a lot of people here don't like the new twists and turns but to me I just enjoy the direction the artists go. It's always a pleasant surprise. I like the fact that Shiro is non stereotypical gay man who is known for bravery and being a good leader.

The problem is that they revealed it in the worst way ever. He boyfriend just talks about their relationship in one scene and the next episode he in fucking dies And Netflix has the gall to hype it up as a tragic death of two lovers. Fucker wasn't even fridged properly.

Like Kyle rayners girlfriend had more devolpment before they offed her. If they wanted to do something he should have been in flashbacks but no. Just killed off after two scenes and we don't even see him die.

I'll defend a lot about Voltron but that was just shit.

anon, three fucking episodes having that, with a fourth one coming up and all in season 2A. Four fucking episodes dedicated to a particular plotline which is more than it's dedicated to everything else.
You can like it but you cant say its not being shoved in your face, it totally is. Same way it was in season 1 where Amity was put front and center and Eda, the character that mattered the most in the finale, was pushed to the back.

see my main issue with all these stories is tha they bring up mature content and then they drop the ball pretty hard by giving them the same ending as any kid cartoon. I kinda like more the current episodic cartoon comedies with some plot here and there because I feel those shows dont get into stuff they arent prepared to, and as such they are usually more entertaining and fun.
I also believe TOH fits into this category. There is nothing deep about this show at all, no mature themes, no complex storylines, its very simple, and it strives because of it. Granted sometimes its so simple it hurts, but it avoids a lot of pitfalls most serialized cartoons do.
I do want more serialized stuff but I do not want more of these tryhard stories where they are ambitious but fall in the end. I will take 10 goofy comedies over another preachy story that messes a mature theme but gets credit for just trying.

the way TOH does it reminds me a lot of star vs, a show which a lot of fans also used to say had a plot beyond shipping, up until it was obvious to anyone that it wasn't.

And yet Amity is also a secondary character like them, yet she gets more screentime than all of them combined, especially more than Willow who has been pretty much glossed over. The fact Lumity screentime rivals the one of main fucking characters is worrying.

Luz is on a mission to get her mack on as they walk around town and get ice cream or whatever, while shit is destructing all around them outside their notice; and Eda is doing to her darnest to handle everything herself and keep anything from disturbing them. Eventually they get dragged into it anyway and their first kiss happens at the climax of the appropriate amount of drama and action
