But actually, on that topic, if anything indie books do prove my point I think.
The brief popularity of Invincible after the Amazon series's first season dropped and the ensuing spike in sales can attest to things that work.
It's volumes tend to cost around ten bucks so you won't necessarily break the bank if you want to buy more of them.
As you said, it's self contained so no need for splurging on extra bullshit.
Hell the show is arguably the most anime like in the terms of adapting the comic than most other superhero cartoons, since it's a straight adaptation of the comic with some changes thrown in there rather than just doing its own thing entirely. So fans who want more content from that show and don't want to wait for the next season can just jump into the proceeding trades.
If more mainstream comics did what the indies and the Mangas do, they'd probably sell better.
