>>124435922Because the MCU is easy money. They churn out movie after movie every year (at least up until the pandemic) and all of them make a ton at the box office because audiences enjoy the ongoing series. There's no real gamble in making a Marvel movie, they'll succeed no matter what.
Everyone in the entertainment industry sees this and thinks "that's what I want." Thing is, it was lightning in a bottle. It's been tried a billion times and only worked once. Funnily enough, the same thing happened with Blizzard and WoW: after WoW released, everyone tried to copy it and they all failed hard.
Hell, Disney tried to copy its own success by trying to turn Star Wars into another MCU, and it failed. Remember "a new Star Wars movie EVERY YEAR!!1!"? Yeah, that shit didn't last very long before they shelved it. Old Kenobi movie, Yoda movie, didn't fucking happen.
