After Lucy's suicide attempt, When Mike gets confronted he lets slip that he told lucy to kill herself back in december. Most of the friend group immediately turns on him, then there's a little ark over his guilt and such. Mike has a private conversation with Daisy where he gets asked why he did it, and tells her the full context with Lucy's emotions always getting put ahead of his, she notes that that's happening again with the group abandoning him, he insists that the difference is he deserves it this time, big tense forgiveness thing where Mike comes back to the table and continues trying to be friends despite the tension.
While Lucy is gone, have a chapter devoted to breaking up with Sandy due to the combo of guilt and long-distance making the relationship obviously unworkable. Mike is now depressed over having his friends being cold/terse with him and Sandy out of the picture.
Then Lucy comes back, and there's additional tension due to the group and Mike not being sure where they stand. Lucy keeps her distance but is still vaguely friendly rather than ice-cold, then you can have a version of this chapter, with Mike saying he can't handle being the bad guy and breaking down a little, Lucy brings up her own bad history, mutual forgiveness. Same as this chapter, impulsive kiss, Mike asks if there's still a chance, Lucy says something along the lines of "Lets find out."
Final volume is a wrap-up with Mike and Lucy in an established relationship, and a bit of relationship drama plus fluff. Sue and McCain learn that sometimes letting yourself be emotional and involved works out, Paulo and Daisy learn to let go of self-doubt and jealousy, Abbey and Augustus learn to stop being creepy and that forgiveness is a virtue.
