My thoughts:
-it looks really good
-the rumors seem to have had a legitimate source (teela's role has been beefed up, she has a split with he-man over him lying about his identity or something)
-it doesn't seem AS bad as the sourve made out, which makes sense because they had only seen a couple episode's scripts. probably teela is not a lesbian and does not entirely replace he-man
-parts of it could easily get cringey, teela getting her sidecut out of anger and so forth, and if she doesn't have a legitimate reason to be so angry at he-man, or if she does can they pull it off without making he-man look like a bitch?
-they are also going all in on the magic vs technology thing, which i heard would also be theme of the CGI kids show? so maybe the two are related (like: parents watch this one that gets them excited about he-man again, so then they watch the kids one with their kids that carries over some of the same themes). i don't totally dig the idea and would rather just have both sides use both. but who knows..

Although a lot of my points sound negative, oveall I'm pumped. Mainly because the art and animation look so good, and it doesn't look as bad as some predicted. Still, I have to watch it.. could go either way.

This looks like a “Luke in the woods at Dagobah” kind of scene where Teela is confronting something dark, maybe within herself. Like, the “evil He-man” represents a complete distrust in Prince Adam/He-Man, where she needs to understand why Prince Adam hid he was He-Man or something.

Personally I just want to give it a chance because I'm seeing enough negative and positive about it that it could go either way, and also the negative stuff is mostly rumors based on a source who admitted having limited information. Whereas with She-Ra I could tell just from the character redesigns and who the showrunner was that it would not be for me.

This may be a pseudo-sequel to the 80s cartoon, but they are clearly taking inspiration from the 00s show as far as character designs go. Adam was still a young teenager in that show which made it more believable that people did not know he was He-man.

I think it is still fairly well known in Japan (the country that matters in this case) and China. It may have never reached the level of popularity or become ingrained in their culture like DBZ or One Piece did, but it's not just gacha, but limited edition toys and Pachinko too

My money's on a nightmare conjured by Scareglow. I do not know what his powerset is, but going off his name and Kevin Smith's strong disposition to Batman, I'm guessing he can create nightmares like Scarecrow.
The party also seems to have rocks growing around their feet (petrified with fear) and Teela appears to be breaking free of an enchantment in one of the shots.

Which seems pretty dumb. I can only speak from my bit of experience as a Kenjutsu student, but we go after the hand/wrist/arm plenty. Get them to either drop the sword, or make their strong arm unable to wield the sword effectively, then go for the kill.

Either go full armor or no armor, don’t try to split the difference.

Beast Man, master of beasts on Eternia. Of note he commands Shadow Beasts, a species of nocturnal gorillas.

In the original Skeletor lobbed verbal abuse and put downs at Beast Man a lot, usually leading to Beastman going rogue and making his own plots.

In 200x series he is significantly dumber but still is a beastmaster. Ironically Skeletor is nicer to him in this series.

Creator's notes say that he doesn't mind control on animals but uses pure alpha energy to dominate creatures to do his will which is why 200x version was beastly.

As an aside in 200x the split sword Skeletor was actually the power sword and that was why he was so strong. The designers also felt that it added to Skeletor's threat if they showed he already gotten a big victory befor the show even began.

Except they clearly don't do that. Teela gets heard the most, Adam hides behind her, and we see her leading most fights. We also hear her ask him if he even remembers the line.

There is no indication its about He-Man, and we even know its not.

I'm a fan of Smith's (well, his work pre-Cop Out), but he still feels like an odd pick for this. He's got some good instincts with comedy, both down-to-Earth situational (Clerks the movie) and more absurdist (Clerks the TV show), and is okayish at taking larger than life characters and making them more grounded (his Green Arrow run, his Green Hornet, Dogma).

But I don't think a grounded Masters of the Universe is a great idea. These are characters that thrive on being massively larger-than-life and even when they're not being camp they're pretty hokey.

I thought his Green Hornet was surprisingly fun, although yes, in fairness, it was a "next generation" story, not using the original Green Hornet. The fights are dogshit in the reboot. Shiryu doesn’t even get shirtless and bloodied in the reboot. Going by what's actually IN the show, he's just some cranky dude. Going by shit said in OTHER He-Man media, sure, he might be Randor's brother. In some takes. But not in 2002. Not in the stuff that aired.

Saying "boy I sure did love that he was He-Man's uncle!" just drives home how much they failed their source material. Because in the show they actually made, he wasn't He-Man's uncle. Skeletor gets inside Castle Grayskull and holds the Sorceress hostage.
I think this is the point where he uses the Power of Grayskull to become Skelegod? Who has extra faces on his knees, crotch and arms.
The Heroic Warriors run into battle and the way to stop Skeletor ends up being to divide the Power Sword, which Adam mistakes for destroying it.
In the future, Skeletor is presumed dead, the magic goes away and the planet is rotting. Tri-Klops founds a religion of technology that Trap Jaw and Whiplash are in.
Teela meets Andra, Evil-Lyn and Beast Man, who fights Tri-Klops.
They pick up Adam, Orko, Roboto and Duncan and take a boat to the arctic ocean.
Mer-Man tries to stop them from reaching their destination, a cave with a time portal.
Inside, Scare Glow tries to stop them. Orko goes Bridge of Khazad-dum, allowing Adam, Teela, Evil-Lyn, Andra and another character to go through to the plain below the Three Towers in the past.
Adam meets He-Ro, Kang Grayskull (voiced by the Allstate guy) and Vikor.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if, unbeknownst even to most Evil Warriors, Skelegod won and Mer-Man is entrusted with stopping anyone who tries to restore the world along with Scare Glow, a woman with six arms and a snake tail and a five-headed dragon.
