Duckman was unironically a really good show. I wind up going back and rewatching it every couple years.
Yeah, the protagonist dove headfirst into his vices, and yeah, he was an unapologetic nympho and womanizer, but he wasn't an irredeemable asshole. He did bad shit but he did good things too, and he cared about his sons, even if he wasn't the best father. He also made some good points, the episode with Iggy Catalpa (the non-offensive comedian) becoming ridiculously popular comes to mind.
He was an asshole, but that was mostly (not entirely - he was just naturally kind of an asshole - but mostly) due to dealing with the stresses of modern living, his wife suddenly dying, his sister-in-law treating him like shit, being stuck in a career he wasn't any good at, and whatever other factors I'm forgetting at the moment. When he WASN'T stressed the fuck out he was significantly less of an asshole.
Compare it to something like Family Guy, where Peter's just an asshole for the sake of being an asshole, because the writers are fucking hacks and think sociopathic behavior is funny in and of itself.
