I don't buy the whole 'dependency' thing for her though. Once she finds out Sasha is around, it sounds more like she'd just latch back on to her instead of sticking around with a bunch of people that hate her. Even the whole 'snapping at her friend' thing feels forced.
I think it would be better if you appeal to her hero fantasy. Have it so that Grime gives her missions and tasks like Andrias did, until she feels like she's this big ranger hero for them and falls into the 'zone.' She's the protector of the valley now and everyone loves her for it! Any mission from Grime is clearly the right thing to do, because they're the heroes! Then you have Sasha show up, and she's trying to fight the toads, which makes her 'the bad guy' because she and the toads are 'the good guys protecting the valley' and that's why they fight. Then she has this moment of realization while she's hanging from the tower that she got so deep into her fantasy that she was willing to kill her friend, and it makes her retreat deeper into the fantasy. Which results in her going after Andrias to feel like a hero again, similar to how Sasha goes after Andrias in canon to try and feel like she's in control again.
You can tell the writer had to work hard to make it fit, because Marcy's section is, like, twice as long as the other two.
