What really bothers me about Guy's asinine posting is how little he fucking cares about storyboard or animatic art, its the same cherrypicked shit every time. Look, storyboard art's never been meant to look pretty, the point is to get an idea from script to paper as fast as possible so the team can look at it and see what needs to be revised. You're working as a team and need to be able to change shit quickly if the story needs to change, or if you have to eat some humble pie and change your work because its not perfect on the first try. Been that way since walt disney, been that way ever since. Any sort of "pretty" storyboard art is one of two things
>a cleaned up animatic redraft of the original storyboards because its being sent overseas and the director wants their vision to be followed very closely, usually only followed through with productions that allow the extra time like films or especially expensive tv shows
>a beat board that came before any of the boarding and was there to establish the tone of the story in advance
If you can end up with a production with really pretty storyboards (and usually this only happens when you have a dedicated layout department), that's great, but that isn't what the audience sees at the end of the day. They see the finished product. The less the storyboarders hold up the process and just make clean, easy to read storyboards so that the background artists and animators can do the heavy lifting, the better. Fuck this stupid fucking dogshit brainlet take that because pixar, a fucking 3d studio that doesnt even need these things to look any good at all when all the work is being done through a completely different pipeline, has boards that're particularly quick and efficient that somehow means standards have dropped.
Fuck off, you don't know how this shot works, even making a basic fucking indie cartoon on youtube with a team would show you how fucking wrong you are.
T. storyboarder that didnt go to an art school.
