When it comes to character movements, or their design, then I agree. But background elements and the fur on Maximus for example, I feel look way too lifeless. Compared to when backgrounds were actual paintings instead of people having to 3D model a fuckton of different models, which means you'll have to prioritize what's gonna be detailed up close and what can be low-poly.
Sometimes the lighting can also look dead, if it's in a overcast weather or at night. I feel like animators haven't quite figured out how to make those settings look appealing just yet. Mostly because they keep trying to make it look realistic.
I can't find a screencap of it, but I feel like I remember when Flynn is fleeing from the town with those other two dudes and the forest's trees are super small and simplified. Basically just green orbs.
But I can't find examples of it, so no idea if I just imagined it or not.
