>>121474038Killua instantly hitting it off with Gon isn't at all the same as Zuko befriending Aang after one season. There's no conflict of interest and besides Killua was the one who rebelled and left his family; it was a self imposed exile it wasn't like he was banished. A better example would be Kurapika dropping his revenge plot altogether cause of Gon or whoever.
Kurapika did not drop his revenge plot at all, it's merely sidetracked. In fact, I'm willing to bet there'll be conflict of interest because Killua's sibling is in the troupe and that's probably when he'll actually have to make a choice. Kurapika isn't an edgelord like Sasuke, that was never indicated. He has a dark past, yeah, but he was never this cold "badass" character.
I get, narratively, why Zuko had to come home. To see that this isn't really for him, and that being here isn't going to make him happy and that his father doesn't really love him. But because of the pacing of the season, it feels flubbed. There should have been bigger turmoil or reason for him to stay home (Mai honestly just felt like she was his girlfriend so he'd have a reason to stay). It just felt like despite making him stay at the FN, it felt like time wasted or not even properly developed for why they chose to have him come home and a big reason for that is just bad pacing and useless episodes (Painted Lady and Headband) that could've been used to develop that. Consequently, it felt like he didn't have enough time with the Gaang. Him being there earlier would have made the dynamic a lot better in the earlier part of the season. Really season 3 just felt like they didn't have time for everything but inexplicably decided to waste the time they did have on useless episodes. Also Iroh really had no reason to live desu. Him dying, in jail or whatever, would've given good motivation to like realize how much of an idiot he is. But I realize that would probably be too sad for kids or whatever.
