Not because of how many that are "objectively" so or whatever, but rather because a lot of issues depend heavily on continuity, and knowing what's going on is essential for fully investing into the series. Your subjective taste will also play a lot on deciding what was good and what wasn't. The only appropriate way to consume the comics is to simply start from the beginning, reading until the end.
There's no shortcut, and if you're already aware of how much of complex unorganized tonality and progression will the comic have at onces, then you won't have much issue on getting used to the comics.
