>>121137912It started out as a somewhat more absurdist, fast and loose Simpsons, with characters you could believably see some genuine heart to. Now it's a show that relies purely on shock-value humor and runs on pure cruelty with a family of sociopaths as its lead, and an over-reliance on blood and gore. Every now and then they try wring out some "emotional" moment, but it rings hollow when every character is awful.
Take this joke from pre-cancellation Family Guy for example:

It's not even 'dark' humor it's just excessive.

Big Mouth, Brickleberry, Paradise PD, Bordertown... the fact that Dan VS had to be SNUCK into networks by masquarading as a Family Guy clone is proof of how far it's roots have dug in. Family Guy single-handedly set adult animation back as a genre by a decade and it still hasn't recovered.
