>>120984204This makes sense, though. I mean, if you asked Americans, they'd probably say the same thing. The USSR was one of the greatest powers in the world at it's height. But it was a dystopian hellhole. Enough time has passed that people have forgotten the dystopian hellhole part of it and only remember the "Every country feared us" part. At the same time, The USA also misses the days when the USSR existed. See, Woodrow Wilson put into place a simple ideal to teach his nation and he made sure that the national education system was built around teaching this one principal:
>"America is the greatest country in the world. This will never not be true. Anyone who says it isn't the best is a lying commie bastard. America will always be ontop and every other country in the world with ALWAYS be grateful that we are ontop."And then WWII ended and the worst thing that could possibly happen to a nation rife with this dellusion. It was proven right. For 45 years, America reigned supreme as the greatest country in the world... Then the Berlin Wall fell and suddenly, every country no longer needed USA to be ontop. Suddenly, people no longer needed the USA to stop the USSR if they came calling. People started to take their shitty behavior to heart. That's when 9/11 happened and suddenly the dillusion was utterly fucking shattered to everyone.
>"What the fuck? Why the hell is the middle-east angry with us, don't they know we're the best country ever and that they will always be grateful that we're the best country ever?"This is the reason you people elected Trump. He promised the one thing you wanted "A return to the Cold War where everyone needed America to be the best and everyone would be grateful for it." Say what you like about other countries that fell from grace. Boris Johnson is just as moronic as Trump, but he didn't get there by promising "We'll bring back the empire, re-conquer India and rule the waves again!" He never could have. Britain let it go. USA can't.
