>>120890275Well, he just became horrifically written in the actual comics to the point of character assassination for the sake of a few cheap plot twists, and it's become like a de facto/hack plot idea to work around, sort of like how everyone thinks they're so fucking smart when they come up with a "Superman, but Evil" story.
Hell, I even loved the Logan movie and half the plot happens because the dude's getting on up in years and his powers are fucking up.
At least the Fox X-men show did him a solid.
>>120890456One thing that bothered me about Spyke wasn't even his character, it was how in his debut episode, he joins the X-men while Quicksilver joins the Brotherhood. The latter team got a WAY more powerful mutant, and while I understand the need for conflict, after awhile this kept happening. The Brotherhood kept getting all the actual heavy hitters (with Toad being their only dud, really) aside from Cyclops, Logan and Storm (who barely shows up so she practically doesn't tip the scales in the X-men's favor.) Most of the focused on X-men had utilitarian powers. Colossus and Gambit weren't really allowed to join the X-men, either, and I can't even remember if Havoc stuck around.
Like, yeah, there's not much of a challenge if the heroes can just beat the almighty shit out of the bad guys, but if they're always overpowered it lends to way more writing asspulls for the heroes to stop the bad guys.
