S1 and S2 are different canons. Going in chronological order.

That would have been an hilarious season finale to poke at the retcon.

Dylan finds a spell that can alter reality and reveal prior alterations.

Checks prior alterations, mostly stuff done in other worlds, someone murdered Elvis, no biggie.

Finds she made the most recent change.

Suddenly bombarded with memories of another world.

We flash back to the original timeline. Dylan discovered the spell, and altered reality to attempt to get Golan back home, but botched it, deleted her dad, altered the lives of everyone in town, erased their memories, and forgot all about Golan for several months til the new chain of events occurred to bring him to earth.

Dylan has to deal with the weird double memorie.

Golan does too, wonders if he lost his edge.

Their mom tries to bring her husband back, makes things worse.

Alexis somehow becomes a nerd.

Disagree, the pacing is really off in the second season. It worked way better as shorts on ADHD than as a full series, and it didn't even get a full season when it got greenlit

Season 2 when spazzy and had Dylan pulls guns from cartoon space to shoot people. She's much funnier when her bark is louder than her bite like in season 1.

Yeah Swingley also two different characters from S1 to S2. Mainly because S2 were drawn together writers who were aware they were being cancelled so a lot of S2 episodes are no fucks given.

S2 Swingley
Swingley already an established character that Dylan wants in the cult of Golan.
Dylan unknowingly kills his mom and special doctor that can actually cute Swingley. Swingley also mentioned he gets kidnapped a lot (make of that what you will)
Dylan is more struggling to let everyone know she likes Swingley this time.
Episode ends with Dylan thinking Swingley her boyfriend only for Swingley to say he already has a boyfriend and they gay walk into the sunset together.

Also noted that Alexis reveals to be the real mother of Dylan

Last thing I want to say is Swingley being gay might also be a jab at Audrey plaza character in parks and rec who starts off the show in a poly relationship.
