I dropped off DC Comics so I'll use it as a jumping on point again but I'm not really that excited. Rebirth was cool at the time because we thought the New 52 would be undone and it would be cool and exciting but after the first year it kinda went downhill. I doubt it'll be much better than what we already had.

Punchline is in the Batman Infinite Frontier teaser so she's gonna stay for a bit

Punchline is fucking retarded, so is Harley and Joker is way overused. If you want me to be excited about Batman again then start using obscure rogues for more than throwaway roles or one panel gags.

It's going to be woke as fuck. Nubia, Earth 23 Superman and Tim Fox Batman are examples the laziest fucking way to do diversity possible. DC should do more with Milestone and obscure minority characters like Vixen, Steel and Black Lightning instead of just cloning popular heroes but making them nonwhite. Gay Alan is far worse and might make me quit DC totally. That's a character with a fucking 70 year history including a marriage and children. The JSA since Crisis has always been about family and legacy and I want to throttle whatever writer decided to piss on its grave for the sake of diversity.

And the omniiverse shit is going to be retarded powerfagging as always. The reason Marvel cosmic is popular is because it's full of actually interesting groups, characters and concepts. DC just uses the same characters over and over with powerups now and then (Darkseid) or creates characters who are tHE bIGgEst thReAt eVeR without building them up naturally (Perpetua, Batkek).

The only linewide thing I could possibly get excited about from DC at this point is them fixing their continuity in a systematic way where they very explicitly hammer out what's canon like they did after COIE. But that won't happen because it's easier just to say everything matters and then pull pointless relaunches like this for an easy sales bump.

Went from spending 500 on DC last year, 650 the year before and almost 800 the year before that.

I will probably only spend about 200 tops on DC this year.

I only buy floppies, refuse to support digital first comics even if they release later in floppy format and don't touch omnis or trades. If they don't want my money I'll gladly spend it on other things.

There's not the same temptation to pirate with omnis, especially omnis of older stuff, because the oversize art and color restoration isn't something that can be even remotely duplicated in digital.

If DC wants people to buy floppies again then fewer of their monthly titles should be dogshit and they shouldn't be charging consumers $4-5 for 20-30 pages of story. Reason floppies became successful in the first place is because they were cheap, disposable entertainment. Even adjusting for inflation they're far more expensive now than they used to be and the problem continually gets worse. The speculator market doesn't exist anymore for new comics so there's zero reason they have to be printed at the quality they currently are and both of the Big 2 have corporate owners so they can afford to offset the loss of lowering prices in other ways.

Really want a JSA relaunch and while I'm happy to see Alan his Kids and Stargirl here and Jay over in Flash, I'm frustrated by the fact they have not even yet announced a JSA title. What the fuck is the problem?

I know about the page rate problem, it's just trickier to deal with than lowering printing costs, which is a way you could justify lowering the price at least a little bit. If it comes down to it then just start paying your talent less though because what we're talking about is a *need* to make floppies affordable again. As long as they're priced the way they are they're never going to be sustainable and being moralistic about fans choosing not to buy them won't change that.

The problem is, noone cares for these race-washed versions.
How many diverse characters did Marvel and DC create in the 70s and late80s-earky 90s?
And noone cares that much about them. Be it Luke Cage or Steel.
And this isnt a race thing. Look at Moon Knight or Green Arrow. There are certain character that are just popular because they are well done or became so iconic that people will tend towards them.
Everyone else should be seen as a small fangroup character.
DC and Marvel understand that Batman or Spiderman are so well done or so iconic, that they try so many variations of this character, but in the end people will love the original and every variation is seen as a lesser one.
