>>120584725The movie itself is a very good apt metaphor for society. However I think OP is forgetting a few of the other minor messages in the movie.
>Individuality vs group conformityFlik sets the plot in motion and ultimately defeats the villains by being an independent thinker from the rest of his colony. This theme is part of a wider set but you will start to see the big picture as I mention the others. But basically this is a sort of light jab at nationalism
>Diversity is our strengthEven though the grasshoppers are supposed to represent hostile parasitic outsiders they are more of an equivalent to today's modern cosmopolitan elites who raid economies and leave broken nations behind. Ultimately they are defeated by Flik with the help of the diverse circus bugs who aid the ants in their fight. You could even take this as a metaphor for when society stops being distracted by identity politics and unites against those in real positions of power you can facilitate actual change.
>The ruling ants were complicit in the oppression of ant societyPerhaps the biggest elephant in the room is the fact that were it not for a decision made by the ant leadership to collaborate with the grasshoppers the ant society could have avoided the protracted hardship and near destruction of their society a lot sooner. Because in the end the Grasshoppers saw the writing on the wall and planned to destroy the colony by taking the last of their winter food reserves.
