trying to gain control of Wanda or her children seeing as her powers are growing exponentially. This comes to a point where she is ripping open gateways to other dimensions, where Evan peter's quicksilver is introduced as well as the multiverse,

I think Kat Dennings is great, but I don’t care for Darcy as a character because she is basically written like a zany self insert from a fan fiction. I think it was a mistake having her lead the episode. There should have been more Monica from the inside or more info about the people on the inside.

I don’t know, with all the hype we were getting from the actors and other people involved it kind of fell flat. But the last few minutes were great.

Yeah, it was a bit of a recap with more context so it was a little boring. What's interesting as a question though is if they're laying their cards on the table about so many of the series' mysteries already, what else are they going to reveal? What else is at play? I think "It's all Wanda" is actually a bit of a fake-out. They want you to think it's that simple now, because there's actually more going on than just Wanda's reality warping.

This episode basically just gave context to the external influences that themselves don't even know much about what's going on. There's still basically everything about the reality warping bubble, what led to its creation, and the purpose everything inside plays that they haven't outright explained yet.

Opening was legit great and made even the so called "blip" be terrifying, and the Vision zombie shot was unnerving without being full on jumpscare shit.
Otherwise the episode was kinda meh, it was more of an exposition dump so that the ordinary viewer knows what SWORD is and explains some context of how it all looks like from the outside.

The mind stone is what's keeping me from declaring she's simply resurrected him and that's the end of it. I agree that at least that component might need her power passively on, but otherwise he seems to be a fully functional independent being. My guess is Wanda tried to revive Vision, she used a ton of power and accidentally created the pocket dimension.

Wanda knows something is wrong but she is scared of losing everything again. The point here is that Vision is the person who can do the most to help her.

The actual simulation didn't start with the 50s. Something bad happened to have them redo the simulation. Most likely the Grim Reaper attack and he is buried in the floor boards. And now knowing that the sphere went up and lasted prior to the first show, something is up.

I dunno why you guys think this show is anything more complicated than Wanda is nuts and is overcome with such grief that she created her own perfect little world to live in with the man she loves.

Everything in the show adds up, Vision is a construct so doesn’t question anything and trusts his wife even though it’s all nonsense. Agnes and Herb know somethings wrong but they can’t tell Vision or they’ll die. It all seems straightforward to me, the only thing that didn’t was the communist joke.

I can’t figure out what the point of that joke was and it’s been bothering me since he said it. Why try and out him as a communist? Is he a spy? I don’t get it.

"Why didn't SWORD respond when X" is a pretty big plot hole for the MCU now that they stupidly made it so SWORD is meant to have been around for ages.

In the comics, yes. None of Marvel's writers have ever made any effort to explain any of it in a competent way because she's just a plot device. Bendis's amazingly deep insight being "She crazy because she is a woman and genetics make you evil" and the astonishingly profound observation from Spiderman that "She married a robot". So deep.

But in the MCU the emphasis is on Wanda's crushing grief and they actually explore it. They actually explore her character and do it in a fun way, without shitting on her or mocking her. I'm looking at you, Hickman.

I found this to be the ultimate filler episode. Literally all of it could have been done by adding 5 minutes to the third episode.

Except for the shock shot of Dead Vision, and the thing about editing the broadcast, everything else was just a bunch of government employees explaining what we already knew: energy field, real town, Monica got sucked in, Wanda zapped her out, and people can watch the sitcom on a real TV.

I get why Feige did this because he knew that people would be impatient to see a "real" MCU episode by now, but I want to see Wanda's POV and it looks like we'll have to wait several more weeks for that.

Also I hate the "is Wanda evil" teasing and even though the head writer pretty much said she doesn't want to go there, I'm still afraid she was lying.

I didn't mind it in the first two episodes because they actually were trying to mimic the structure of an old sitcom episode, so there was (barely) enough story there.

Episode 3 felt like it really did not have enough story, even for a Brady Bunch episode.

Considering it's F&WS deals with US Agent and almost undoubtedly some program to develop new super heroes to fill some really big shoes, along with heavy hints of Hydra... and considering Widow has Taskmaster is a guy that is steeped in training new agents to defeat super heroes, there's a lot of interplay to develop some kind of villains from the past that need to be defeated in the present.

It's difficult to map things to real time, since we only really see what's been happening since Darcy caught the broadcast. We don't know what happened before the 50's episode, probably just the sequence of Wanda and Vision driving into town and settling into the house.
But Monica and the chopper probably got there during that sequence, or the 50's. We just didn't see them until the 60's.
When they send the Beekeper, they're probably watching a recording of the 50's episode, or maybe the broadcast repeats.

I'm not sure if he dislikes the role itself but I'll always remember RDJ's anecdote about Bettany on Joe Rogan. He didn't want to wear the Iron Man armor in every take and he got his way so Bettany remarked "I'm stuck in this fucking thing Downey". I'd guess he's not a fan of wearing that makeup. Honestly with the technology they have now the VFX team could probably just digitally impose all that onto Bettany instead of going practical, half the time Vision's face looks like it's been tweaked in post anyway, I remember being surprised Vision was practical.

Bettany is one of those actors that tried to crack Hollywood and kind of failed outside of Vision which is like his only big role. Reminds a little of Kenneth Branagh who's been in some good films and was successful on stage, mainly known for that role in Harry Potter and hasn't had any massive roles outside of that in Hollywood.

it's relatively straightforward to replace rdj with an iron man helmet, but vision needs to be able to act and express himself. they could do it, it worked for thanos, but it costs a fuck load and it's easier to just touch up practical effects like they currently do for vision and most of the human-ish looking gotg

He's not bad and he has been in more things maybe as a result of him getting Vision, like Solo. Although him being in Star Wars only happened because Michael K Williams was unavailable for reshoots, so he wasn't their first choice which kind of sucks for him.

Yeah but I think RDJ wearing the pieces of the armor for reference less and less impacted the quality of the CGI. It doesn't look as good as it did in Iron Man 1, 2 or Avengers in Civil War, Infinity War or Endgame. Could just be budget though idk.

Made me dislike how Spider-Man Far From Home played it for laughs. The way it's portrayed in WandaVision was more impactful and reminded me of the opening to Batman V Superman where you see the fallout of Man of Steel's final battle from the ground level, say what you will about that film but I liked that scene.

I'm sure it's a factor, but even as budgets got higher, they also had to go into more and more effects for more characters and scenes, I imagine not as much of a % of the budget was allocated to just Iron Man in specific, in comparison to his solo movies.
Also, they use a lot of different studios for each movie, often several in one scene, so quality will vary.

Yeah but I don't see the cast of GotG complaining much and some their makeup is just as extensive if not more. Maybe Bettany just feels left out because most of his screen partners aren't made up. I could be misremembering but I think up to this point he was the only Avenger who's in prosthetics, unless you count Mark Ruffalo having to wear dots for some of his recent Hulk stuff.

RDJ told Joe Rogan he started only wearing the shoulder pads and torso for one take so that probably fucked up some of the lighting references. Probably explains why his head looked pasted onto the suit in some shots of Civil War.

How is this whole thing not just going to be in her head the whole time and the kids were never real? I think that was the story from the comics. It really just sounds like they're doing the same thing but live action and weird. That's not really an interesting idea. it all still happened, anon. The townspeople were still taken hostage and Vision still somehow came back to life (for a while, at least). It'd be "a dream" if the final episode revealed Wanda was in a psyche ward or whatever and a doc said she's been there since the got yeeted back to life and had a breakdown realising Vision was still dead.

Pretty sure it will be a Disney+ series. Like you said they seem to be more experimental in the shows. Idgaf if the Eternals has LGBT characters, it likely won't come up or factor into the story much at all, or it'll be removed for foreign audiences. Young Avengers characters being LGBT is too integral to the story, if you removed it there would be backlash so it has to be tv I think. But who knows, Feige might fuck up, de-aging Kamala Khan feels like a misstep imo.

Jesus Christ dude it's an offhand comment about how a role takes effort. I do some VA work and I've literally complained to the man that pays me how embarrassing the character is because of how high pitched the voice I have to do is, and he laughed and agreed with me. Probably because he's running around in the sun and hot studio lights in a full body suit and makeup while he has to play a role that's both stiff and emotional at the same time? He would be insane if he wasn't bothered by it, but he probably understands why it's neccessary and will put the suit on whenever asked, it's not equivalent to JLaw basically strong arming the directors into keeping Mystique in human form as much as possible
