We are now officially in the countdown stage for AS losing Family Guy. We don’t know the exact date, but we do know it’s this year. How does this make you feel? Keep in mind, the ratings Family Guy pulls are essentially all that keeps the lights on at AS. Very few of their originals pull ratings, so the notion that no more Family Guy = more originals/classic reruns simply is not true.

How much of the high ratings is due to the popularity of Family Guy, and how much of it is due to its timeslot? The AS originals could be 10/10, but if they're airing at 1am, most people (outside of 4chan neets) are asleep.

They couldn’t stop what is happening to Family Guy, but their loss of Futurama and KotH both fall on their incompetence of maintaining the licenses. Had they been more attentive to those expiration dates, both shows would likely still be on AS

Yeah, but I don't think people are flocking to FX or TBS they way they did to Adult Swim.

Losing family guy is pretty serious if you think about it, that show has been their bread and butter for over 15 years. For every experimental show they tested on audiences, they had family guy to bring back viewers. The other show that can compete is American Dad, but I imagine those days are numbered too.

Comedy Central just had more money to play with. IIRC just about ever Fox and FX show Comedy Central licensed (Always Sunny, Archer, King of the Hill, Futurama) were all bought almost immediately after preliminary talks with Adult Swim.
