But you're better off with a 1000$ budget, the cost over the 5 or 7 years the console generation lasts is usually lower than a console.
Especially since PCs have the CD key gray market when you feel like paying, bittorrent when you don't, you're not paying 50 a year for multiplayer nor the movies and series consoles let you rent these days.
But the think people often forget is that they'll own a computer anyway, almost nobody just owns an Xbox and a phone, and will have some 400$ laptop sitting around they'll barely use. PC gaming is just going the extra mile and buying something you can shitpost AND play vidya with.
