>>119685162As has already been said, over-complex stories are overrated. This isn't a novel, it's a movie. A play. It has five acts and a (thankfully) wholesome ending.
The more fascinating part of the writing is the character dynamic. There's the obvious parallel between Bill/Robyn and Moll/Mebh, but the protagonist is Robyn, and she primarily interacts with three characters: Bill, Mebh, and the Lord Protector.
Robyn and Bill start in the center, newcomers to the nature/civilization conflict. They are both pulled in separate directions by Mebh/LP, and the primary conflict of the film is between the father & daughter, when they try to meet in the middle once again.
Of course, nature wins over civilization, when Bill gives into his instincts to save his daughter.
Moll is the amazing human plot device, not really a character in the strictest sense. She compels action in the Mebh/Nature side, while LP is compelled by "civilization".
I could go on. In fact, I will, later.
