My ex-gf worked in the animation industry, so i frequented her clique of artists for a while. I am an engineer and the disparity between the 2 work enviroment is absolutely stunning.
I work at the R&D department of my company, taking risk, exploring new ideas is not only advisable, it's encouraged even if it results in failure. At least you learn something from the experience which you will use to foster better projects in the future. You are set to reach a goal, how you do it matters little, so long you bring results.
Suprisingly the art industry is the exact opposite (which is odd since you know...it's the rigidity of math and physics against art itself).
>conformism is the normThere is ONE way to do things and that's that. Trying to explore new thigs is actively discouraged, most often by passive-aggressive emails telling you to stick to the original script. She was more of a "western" comic kind of girl, her sister was more of weeb. She showed me the magas were they publish "fan works" or "amateur artist concepts" and it was explained that big houses use this procedure to scan for good art or stories that can acquire and print into market. From what i have understood this does not exist in the western market. The comic industry is a closed club and you are not in it.
Now i do not know the reason for that, nepotism? Ideology? Incompetence? All of them? But yeah that's my reasoning
>tldr because the actual market stifles creativity in favor of comformity
