I felt like it was trying way too hard to push boundaries. It didn't feel natural to me, just really juvenile.
The epitome of what I'm talking about is a scene where a fairly obscure mafia goon from original Spider-Man comics (Man Mountain Marko if I recall correctly) threatens to rape Jessica's corpse. It just felt like a straight up "this isn't your daddy's comics!" moment. I'm not some soccer mom mind you, I have no problem with Ennis' stuff

I also found Jessica Jones to be a pretty dull character, just a by-the-numbers "I had a bad past and now I'm cynical" cliche noir character, but female and with superpowers.
And no amount of edgying up will make me take Purple Man seriously. He's a lame character and he ALWAYS will be.
