If Sora is too much of a one dimensional annoying shit character and Riku is edgelord cringe tryhard anime shit then focus on Roxas or Aqua or a new original character.

And the most important thing, ignore as much from the lore as you can. If you have to use Heartless and Nobodies, give a simple explanation about what are they supposed to be. Focus on the characters, not in the fucking ramifications of retarded plot devices. "Being a Nobody makes X character to do this and suffer this". Not "X character does this and suffers this because he's a nobody".

I would not go with the typical Sora and his journey story since it would be a nightmare to adapt in tv form. Make a story set in the same world about a character going through the worlds of light and darkness as like a ranger to protect the world order. But this time, do it with newer brands.
I love classic Disney shit, but the audience nowadays doesn't care about little mermaid, aladdin, alice in wonderland, etc. Not to mention how Disney wants to shill the remakes nowadays and hates their old classic stuff.
Go make worlds out of the newest movies. anything post Chicken Little.

You cant do that with those characters because their entire existence relies on the lore implications they bring. Roxas is (or was? Not sure after 3) a Nobody, and to explain that would be bringing up that lore in the table. He comes from Sora, that is part of his character.
I would argue they should just make a new character period.

For Sora and his friends to be in Mickey’s world where they would get to know the classic Disney world and be there for the comic tricks related to classic shorts.

They would also meet the heroes in other versions. Sora doesn’t know that Donald and Goofy are superheroes (Paperinik and Super Goof) so it would be interesting to see that Donald and Goofy aren’t as useless as is usually thought.

Also for Sora's companions to be, not Webby and Max, but caballeros (Panchito and Jose). That would be a good joke.

I would suggest adding the other Disney proprieties mostly the animated series as the movies are mostly just movies. They don't include the tv shows of the movies like the little mermaid, Aladdin, Tarzan or Hercules. Would add more world building to these stages. Additionally we need more tv show worlds like This way we have more worlds to explore such as American dragon, kim possible, gravity falls, Penn Zero, Randy Cunningham etc. We could even have goofy, Donald and sora accidentally going to duck tales and goof troop where Donald and goofy would be confused with that worlds counterpart of them . Hi jinks ensue

Revisit obscure or classic Disney villains that haven't been antagonists yet (Phantom Blot, Beagle Boys, Big Bad Wolf, Toon Patrol, Mad Doctor, and give Pete something to do other than be a bumbling oaf), shuffle out Donald and Goofy for different companions on ocassion, and feature their Disney Channel cartoons as part of the KH universe (Amphibia, Owl House, Gravity Falls, and Star VS were all made for this).
