I feel like I'm the only guy who thought he was funny until the very end of the show. Sure, he was an asshole, but he was a funny asshole. Never as much of a jerk as post s3 spongebob characters or anything.

I don't think he was annoying, but it's always been interesting to me how the show made him a selfish jerk. Now what someone's going to have to remind me is how bad was Cheese/Louise. I remember them being much worse.

Bloo was designed to assist Mac in dealing with his jerky brother Francis. The only way he could, was by fighting fire with fire. Bloo is a jerky prick because he's supposed to antagonize someone (this being Francis) to no bounds. When Francis is removed from the equation, Bloo is just a prick to everybody and assumes someone to antagonize like Francis.
