A Biden landslide OR a Trump landslide would have been better than this. Everybody's fucked. Everybody's mad. Nothing can get done. The Republicans will almost certainly hold the Senate, and even if they don't the Democrats' margin there will be so narrow that effective legislation will be essentially dead.
And whatever winds up happening, HUGE amounts of people will be convinced that Biden OR Trump is an illegitimate president. Huge amounts of people will be convinced the election was stolen, either through fraudulent mail-in ballots (Trump supporters) or through federal courts (Biden supporters). Nobody will be happy. Everybody will be mad. Everybody will be fucking pissed. It will fuel resentment and hatred throughout the land.
Democracy itself might be legitimately in peril. If almost half the country doubts the integrity of the election process, what do you THINK will happen?
