>>118813316There's a few diamonds in the rough:
-Five Faces of Darkness wasn't that bad, but it setup for shitty Rodimus for the next 2 seasons.
-Thief of the Night showcased Trypticon vs Fort Max and stealing all those landmarks was dumb funny. Dark Awakening was cybertronian zombie action.
-Starscream's Ghost was enjoyable that they used it again in Beast Wars. Webworld with its therapy for Galvatron leaned hard on his craziness.
-The Ultimate Weapon was one of the few times where Rodimus pulled up his big boy pants and stood up to Galvatron's bluff and immortalized First Aid's pacifism.
-The Big Broadcast of 2006 got adapted for comics.
-Grimlock's New Brain introduced the Technobots and smart Grim was entertaining.
-Money is Everything is probably the best post-The Movie episode because it actually gave distinct characteristics to the Technobots and Dirk Manus is the best human in TF fiction and it was written by comic book writer Gerry Conway.
-Call of the Primitives, while messing with Unicorn's origins was a treat because the casting for it was interesting and I believe it had to play up to Beast Wars.
-The Return of Optimus Prime, I enjoyed because it showed that not all humans liked the Autobots and handled Prime's resurrection decently. Remember that the Quints built the Cybertronians in factories, so I can see one reviving Prime.
That's 16 episodes out of 30 I personally enjoyed. And comparing that ratio to the previous to seasons, I can see why most other fans don't like it. But it brought in more combiners, which were cool as fuck when I was watching the show during syndication.
TL;DR
The best season to showcase G1 is Season 5
