>>118788298Sugar describes that Pink had learned to deceive and that what she had done was wrong. But her self-loathing made her unable to grow as Pink Diamond, instead relying on pretending her Rose persona was already perfect. She describes how Pink truly believed she was a terrible irredeemable person so she surrounded herself with innocent, valiant, and heroic Gems and practically worshipped them. None of them recognized it fir what it was, just seeing it as being valued by their leader, none more than Garnet who in addition to being the first real Crystal Gem was also the ACTUAL leader of them. Also worth noting that when Pink told stories of Diamond evil to Garnet, Pink was combining the truth of Blue, Yellow, and White with how she truly saw herself.
Pink abandoned Spinel, silenced Bismuth’s betrayal, and coerced Pearl into mentally-damaging actions (remember that Pearl’s food-aversion begins at seeing her swallow the fake shards) because she had no belief she could ever be anything more than the Evil Overlord Pink Diamond and was just trying to scrape out a win for the CGs. Her logic of faling her death, likely inspired by Bismuth, was sound: Yellow andBlue are motivated largely through fear of White, so making them fear common Gems would make them blockade Earth and forget it ever existed. But she understood the other Dismonds as well as they understood her.
The final Pink sin is abandoning Pearl. But fan theory remains that it was unplanned, Pink was just polyamorous and bisexual, and sacrificed herself to prevent a miscarriage.
So yeah, not evil. Just really dumb and coming from gods that figured out their own universal order, with the worst communication skills in the universe and no mental health help.
